Mafia II: Definitive Edition

South of the Circle

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ Game of the Year Edition

Metro: Last Light Redux

A Grim but Uneven Post-Apocalyptic Exper

Metro: Last Light is a compelling journey through a post-apocalyptic Moscow, capturing the gritty essence of Dmitry Glukhovsky’s universe. The game excels in creating an intense atmosphere, blending survival horror with first-person shooting. The visual and audio design immerse players in the haunting, dilapidated metro tunnels and the perilous surface above. However, despite its strong ambiance and gripping narrative, it falls short in several key areas. The AI can be inconsistent, sometimes behaving unrealistically, which detracts from the tension. Additionally, the gameplay mechanics, while solid, don't introduce much innovation compared to its predecessor, Metro 2033. The game can feel linear, with limited opportunities for exploration or choice, which can make it feel more like a guided experience rather than an open-ended adventure. While the world-building and story are commendable, these drawbacks make Metro: Last Light a solid but not exceptional entry in the series, warranting a 3/5 star rating in my opinion. It’s a worthwhile experience for fans of the genre, but it might leave some players craving a bit more depth and variety.

BioShock™ Remastered

A Thrilling Journey into Rapture

BioShock 1 is a game that transcends the boundaries of the first-person shooter genre and delivers a rich, immersive, and unforgettable experience. Set in the underwater city of Rapture, a utopian vision gone horribly wrong, the game invites you to explore a mysterious and dangerous world, where you will encounter twisted enemies, powerful weapons, and mind-bending abilities. The game's story is one of its strongest aspects, as it unfolds through audio logs, radio transmissions, and environmental clues, creating a sense of mystery and intrigue that keeps you hooked until the end. The game also features a memorable cast of characters, each with their own motivations and agendas, and some of the most memorable villains in gaming history, such as the megalomaniacal Andrew Ryan and the terrifying Big Daddies. The game's gameplay is equally impressive, as it offers a variety of options and strategies for combat and exploration. You can use conventional weapons, such as pistols, shotguns, and machine guns, or you can use plasmids, genetic enhancements that grant you supernatural powers, such as shooting lightning, fire, or bees from your hands. You can also hack security devices, such as cameras, turrets, and robots, to turn them against your enemies, or use environmental objects, such as water, oil, and gas, to create traps and diversions. The game's graphics and sound are also outstanding, as they create a stunning and immersive atmosphere that draws you into the game's world. The game's art direction is superb, as it captures the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the 1960s, with a mix of art deco, steampunk, and horror elements. The game's sound design is also excellent, the soundtrack is beautiful! BioShock 1 is a game that deserves all the praise and acclaim it has received, as it is a masterpiece of storytelling, gameplay, and art design. It is a game that will challenge you, surprise you, and move you, and a game that you will never forget. Final Rating: 10/10

SOMA

A Sci-Fi Horror Game With Deep Questions

SOMA is a first-person horror game that takes place in an underwater research facility called PATHOS-II. The game follows Simon, a man who wakes up in this strange and hostile environment with no memory of who he is or why he is there. As he explores the facility, he encounters various machines that have human personalities, some friendly and some hostile. He also learns about the secrets of PATHOS-II and the fate of humanity. SOMA is a game that focuses more on atmosphere and story than on gameplay. The game is not very challenging, as the puzzles are mostly simple and the enemies can be avoided or outrun. The game also does not have any combat or weapons, so the only way to survive is to hide or run. The game is more about creating a sense of dread and tension, as well as exploring the themes of identity, consciousness, and the human-machine relationship. The game’s strongest point is its story, which is well-written and engaging. The game raises some interesting philosophical questions about what it means to be human, and what happens when a human mind is transferred to a machine. The game also has some surprising twists and turns, and a memorable ending that will make you think. The game’s voice acting is not very good, however, and some of the characters sound unconvincing or bland. The game’s graphics and sound are also impressive, as they create a realistic and immersive underwater world. The game’s visuals are detailed and atmospheric, and the game’s sound design is excellent, as it uses ambient noises and music to create a sense of mood and tension. SOMA is not very scary or challenging. It is more of a psychological horror game that explores some deep and dark themes. It is a game that will make you think and feel, and that will stay with you long after you finish it. If you are looking for a game that has a great story and atmosphere, and that will challenge your mind and morals, then SOMA is a game that you should try.
