Tedious, annoying and inconsistant gameplay combined with poor writing combine to frustrate what could be a great game. Occasionally it shows what it could be, but these occasions are rare and son slip back in to the general tedium. If you have to buy an Alan Wake game get American Nightmare, that's much less annoying.
