I was skeptical about Metro due to hearing that It was a linear shooter instead of an open-world post-apocalyptic game. I spent way too much time avoiding this franchise only because of that. This and Metro 2033 really baffled me how you can make a great semi-linear game with tons of stuff to see and to do! How a guided tour of russia's post-apocalyptic landscape and underground can be as engrossing as Fallout's depiction of post-war America! I'm glad I finally gave this franchise a chance, It's now one of my favorites! Worldbuilding: 10/10 Storytelling: 9/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Replay Value: 10/10
This is one of those games that really sets up an entire new franchise and fantastic universe for fans to debate and play around. When I heard Glushovsky wanted to create "russian Fallout", I couldn't dream on how great this game was. It truly sets the bar up high when we talk about post-apocalyptic universes. From the sound design of haunting enemies, to the beautiful desolation of Moscow, to the pockets of civilizations in the Metro, this is a true vibrant world! Worldbuilding: 10/10 Storytelling: 9/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Replay Value: 10/10
This game is the closest you can get to IRL hiking! They nailed the feeling of freedom and resourcefulness one gets when braving the woods through a trail. Back when covid19 hit, this reignited my passion for going out in the woods with friends. I'm all about trekking, camping and mountain biking, thanks to games like these! The worldbuilding is amazing! The "virtual" Shoshone Forest feels realistic, complete with bird and tree sounds. So many beautiful screenshots! The artstyle is simply beautiful! I don't know how to feel about the story, though. The whole "paranoia in the woods" thing americans love so much in their movies and games just feels boring as hell to me. I rather just be a fire lookout and spend my "gamedays" fishing, hiking, collecting wood, tracking animals, etc
It's a great game for It's time. Many of the features foreshadowed in this game were going to be standards of Rockstar's 'western simulator' Red Dead Redemption. + Great visuals and sounds, great western spaghetti vibe! + Surprisingly great story, for a PS2-era game. Interesting characters and storytelling + Sidemission variety is fun and engaging. Just loved the little proto-sidequests + The open-world looks and feels amazing for a PS2 game, there are hunting missions, courier jobs, deputy service and even some poker games for you to play. - The only downside; It's a PS2 game, straight to the point. Even If some mission design amuses a bit, It still plays acardey and the the main missions follows the 'shooting gallery' trend near the endgame. PS: Avoid 'hard' difficulty, It's just a chore!
This game was the one that raised the feeling of adventure and exploration in me back in the day and It's where my love for Fallout began. The atmosphere of the capital wasteland is one of the best ever made in the history of videogames. The fantastic juxtaposition between the brutal survival and the cheesy humour, the beauty of the retro-futuristic aesthetics, the moral dilemmas, the potential for a crazy scifi adventure at every corner... This is how videogames should be; Paralel universes, complete with emotional stories and feelings Worldbuilding: 10/10 Storytelling: 9/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Replay Value: 10/10 Notes: * Textures might be a little low-res, but nothing that textures mods can't fix * Even If you don't like mods, bugfixing mods will save you from tons of headaches * The game is a little buggy at times, but nothing that console commands can't fix * Don't be shy to modding, this is where Fallout truly becomes a hobbie
This game is one the most creative and more acessible point n' click games. Many of the puzzles are very intuitive and you feel smart when figuring them out. There's also the best reward; The amazing story! Quickly unfolding into a cool sci-fi esque crime drama. If you want to get into the point n' click genre, Full Throttle is a great start! The remastered graphics are beautiful, and you can turn them off anytime If you want the OG experience. Worldbuilding: 10/10 Storytelling: 10/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Replayability: 7/10 (It's a linear story-driven experience)
