The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe

A Beautiful Mess

Its wonky, glitchy, prone to crash, and chock full of exploits and poorly-implemented systems. Its a lot like an old & comfortable relationship. You see the flaws, but they only endear the object of your affection to you. She isn't for everyone, and that's just fine with me.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

GIrlboss Garbage

So far, it is what is to be expected from the folks at Paizo, an adventure with linear choices, dialogue options which somehow find their way into the text regardless of your actions, and (at least in the first few hours), replete with fantastic leading females and men who are there for window-dressing. Don't worry about escaping reality & enjoying yourself, in this story you will have same-sex marriages forced under your nose and you'll meet annoying and protected characters like Nenio. To be fair, she seems to be a female replica of the annoyingly condescending gnome companion from Kingmaker. At least a person could skip encountering him. Still, the writing fails to provide the player an opportunity to respond to her in kind, which is disappointing but not surprising. The action is presented in a choppy flow with a rhythm nearly unattainable through the page after page of dialogue text from NPCs. Perhaps the first chapter is the exposition dump and the game improves in time.

Conqueror A.D. 1086

Don't Believe the Gripe

Purchased & installed this classic from the 90's. No issues with getting the game installed & running. It runs through a DOSbox emulator & the standard config settings make the mouse FAR too touchy. Time passes very quickly & a month can go by before you manage to find the target city to which you're traveling. Without additional tweaks it is functional but unplayable. The trick is to edit your DOSbox config settings. Go to your search engine of choice & you'll find plenty of users who have uploaded either the steps needed to tweak your settings or those who have uploaded the config file which you can drop in the game folder. Other than that, use CTRL + F11 to slow down the number of cycles in DOSbox and CTRL +F12 to speed it up. Do that & you'll be jousting & raiding in no time at all.
