For the discerning starfighter, I can't really praise the game anymore than for what it is, it's near-perfect. You take control of a small fighter craft (and there's more to un lock) and zip around the galaxy via jump nodes, looking for resources and engaging in combat with enemies and rivals as you try to outrun an alien race hellbent on your destruction. The mood is subdued, but the action can get frantic and intense; highly recommended for anyone seeking a balance of exploration and aerial dogfighting.
I was curious about this game, because it looks like something I would totally be interested in. It downloaded fast, installed quick, and booted up flawlessly... Until I actually tried to play the game, because even though the D-pad on my Xbox 360 controller allowed me to scroll through the menu options, and even though the keys on my keyboard also allowed me to scroll up and down, no other button would allow me to select any of the options (not any of the buttons on the controller, the "enter" key, the spacebar, or any of my mouse buttons). What good is a game that won't allow you to start it? I went to the support page to troubleshoot the "problem" (I put that in quotes because on the whole it seemed like everything was in order), but the three fixes I tried didn't cure my ails, and the other three were of the irritating "disable your hardware while playing the game" variety -- I honestly don't have the energy to put that much effort into this game while there are dozens of other games on my hard drive that work every time I start them up. If it works for you, great! Enjoy it and tell me all about it; I'm really not excited enough by this free game to want to bother, so I'm just going to delete it off my hard drive and play something that both works and that I like (Spelunky or something).
