Выпущенная на рубеже веков игра Revenant – ролевой боевик с сильной фабулой, действие которого происходит в фэнтезийных краях. Вместе с Локи вам предстоит совершить путешествие по диковинному и прекрасному миру, полному замков и подземелий, интересных персонажей и тайных знаний. От современных ей ролевых игр Revenant отличается системой ведения боя, в которой физические атаки уникальным образом сочетаются с магическими, а сражение не превращается в монотонное кромсание. Несмотря на почтенный возраст, Revenant остается атмосферной игрой, которая не отпустит вас до самого конца.

Игра из магазина GoG-соответствует его названию и это действительно Хорошая старая Игра.
Одна из самых недооцененных РПГ, мало кто в неё играл хотя я ознакомился с ней еще очень давно(я впервые в неё поиграл в 2001 году), регулярно перепрохожу, т.к. даже учитывая её "относительную линейность"-это доставляет!
Сюжет интересный, система боя не обычная(на момент выхода вообще инновационная в данном жанре). Выглядит игра красиво(учитывая дату выхода 1999г), озвучка хорошая(русской на GoG нет, но оно наверное и к лучшему) и самое главное игра работает на Windows 10!

Back when this was released it was by many dismissed as a bad Diablo clone. And you can see why, it looks and feels a lot like Diablo. The storyline is a bit meh, and the graphics look a bit janky. And apparently by the end the level design gets really uninspired.
But one thing I loved about this game which I have yet to see in any other Diablo style game was that it was quite playable with keyboard. Moving with the keyboard and having multiple attack keys (for light and heavy) with combo possibilities made it seem a lot more like a free roaming looting Beat em up light game.
Adding in magic, boss encounters, and a large world and it was great to play, at least for a bit.
Alas the retail boxed version has issues running on modern OS'es (XP and newer) without some fiddling and rather annoying graphics glitches. The voice acting really does get quite atrocious at times, and loading sections in the "open world" were plenty.
Still, it's the only game I've seen which tried to combine Diablo style looting with a Beat Em Up style combo system.
For people who want an interesting experience and is willing to ignore some of the low points mentioned above, this is worth your time.
For those who want a straight-up Diablo clone, or want a really polished experience or good story and inspired level design, you may want to pass on this. All down to your personal taste.
Really amazing game that was so buggy back in the day probably most people who tried it never got it to run properly. It runs much better with the GOG release, but remains clunky and difficult due to game-breaking gameplay issues and a poor job spent refining and tweaking the finished product. The graphics and general feel is really spectacular, it's like Diablo 1 only WAY better in several ways. You get to use multiple different moves in combat rather than just a basic attack, and the artwork is some of the most gorgeous work I've seen to date. But the polish is lacking; it looks like the game got cut out of development when there was a lot of work left to do, and the maps and story at the end look rushed. Most of the game maps are very maze-like, but later on they actually are mazes, with no attempt to disguise that fact.
Get this game, give it a whirl, but don't expect to complete it. If you do want to reach the end, you'll probably need to cheat. But it's pretty fun to just bash around for a while and explore the earlier parts of it. Even for that much I'd say I got my money's worth.
Let me start out with that this game runs fine on a windows 11 machine. Has some minor crashes here and there and does not play music, which kinda sucks because the soundtrack of this game is awsome.
One major bug I encountered was at the end of the caves with a lever puzzle, the game would glitch and be unplayble I highly suggest you check out this forum post for instructions how to handle it : https://www.gog.com/forum/revenant/lever_bug_in_caves_before_boss
Now onto the actual game. This is an action RPG with the actual focus on the action. It has a unique combat system which is actually very fun to play with. One major thing about this game is that you have to pick stats before you level up not after. If you are playing a melee dude and like to swing your sword PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LEVEL AGILITY. It is the MAIN stat for actually landing hits and not doing 1 dmg forever. I feel like some people misunderstand the combat system and quit to game early. The system favors combos over everything so learn to do them from the combat Trainer Jong in town.
Difficulty wise the game is up and down. If you explore a lot and level tons you will be way ahead of the curve and it will be smooth sailing. Untill of course you get to the god damn caves. The caves are full of nasty red ninjas who will make your life hell. However, they are not so bad if you take your time with them and block a lot. None of the bosses are really "hard" except maybe the last one.
Another tip I can give is to always have loads of potions later in game in your bag. Also do not sleep on magic even on melee runs, you can get regeneration, cure poison, healing and such which is always helpful. Visit the town often for upgrades of armor and weapons.
Overall 4/5 I enjoyed my time with this game even if it has some flaws and bugs.
Ah, Revenant!
I have fond memories of playing this when it was fairly new. Good graphics, great sound & music, very atmospheric. And interesting controls! – I enjoyed the various attacks and defences, combos and dodges, all controlled off the keypad – it had a sort of RPG-meets-beat’em up thing going on. And I have vague recollections of enjoying the magic system as well.
There seemed to be some flaws of implementation. Some things that looked like they were intended for something but did not work. But I looked past that and just enjoyed the atmosphere, and the tactical challenge.
BUT! I also remember never finishing it.
Ultimately, it is too long and linear. After the first half of the map where you explore and build up your strength, you enter the caves under the mountain. These were just an endless succession of twisty caverns with samey gameplay. I persevered and got out of the other side, only to find another dungeon which looked like it might similarly be an endless succession of twisty passages, and at that point I gave up.
I would rather have a shorter game that ends when it looks like it will end, that have a whole load more of the same tacked on at the end as a twist – same reason I never finished Summoner.
In conclusion: pick Revenant up when GOG puts it on sale, and give it a go, and see how far you get before you are fed up!
