Epic Game, lots of bugs *Spoiler review

I'm writing this review after my first play through of the main quest line. Also SPOILERS will be included in this review so turn away now. This game man, the story instantly sucked me in, the dialogue and AI conversations felt really natural, The game started off with a bang (even though the story was a little cliche), and at times I felt like I had a real connection that grew with some of the characters over time. There's a weird lull in the middle of the story, but towards the end is when it really ramps up. The battles were epic, the way the story twists and turned was unique. However the super satisfying ending that I was looking for never showed up. The story just fell right at the end. After some further reading online there are some rumors that this is only part 1 & 2 and they are working on part 3? I'm not sure... The atmosphere, music, setting, and characters were great. I put a lot of time into this game, and I loved it. The game truly makes you feel insignificant in the beginning and does an excellent job of building you up to the end. The story was also on the path to being one of the best I've ever played, and who knows maybe if part 3 gets released then it may still be, however due to the ending fall off I give it 4 out of 5.

Makes the Right Mistakes

Kingdome Come Deliverance is fantastic. As noted in many other reviews, it is not perfect, but in my opinion it makes the right mistakes. The historical (not fantastic) setting is a breath of fresh air and makes for a really fascinating game. The voice acting is great. The open world really feels like I could go anywhere and do anything. A distinctive of this game is that it takes pride in being "realistic", which leads to it being fairly punishing in certain mechanics (especially combat). This is a valid choice by the designers, but will not be everyone's cup of tea. On the rough side, texture loading is a bit too "just in time", sometimes side quests will seem to end too abruptly, and you'll see all the dialog character animations in about the first five minutes of the game. But given the rewards of the game as a whole, I think these only warrant docking 1 star. Finally, and most importantly: I never thought I'd hear Jan Hus invoked in a computer game, yet KCD does it. Kudos.

Historical RPG

Kingdom Come Deliverance is pretty good. It has got a ton of historical facts and it gives an awesome glimpse into what life was like 600+ years ago in The Czech Republic. If the 'learn about X' games in school were actually interesting and well made, then they would be like this game. And it is completely free of wokeness! Yay! The only drawbacks are the game save mechanism, combat, and loading screens. The game save requires you either sleep or drink savior schnapps. The schnapps gets you sloshed, so guards find you suspicious and therefor you tend not to save before stealing stuff... and then you get nicked without having a recent save. Oh my, how I have rage-quitted this game... And combat requires finesse, which I do not have. Luckily, I have trained my dog to bite my opponents leg, so I can hack at him uninterrupted - until I accidentally hit my dog at he buggers off for 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I installed in my HDD - I recommend you use your SSD. The loading screens take a wee bit of time. All in all, at pretty good game that also teaches you stuff - and no preaching! (except the mission where you end up actually having to preach (improv) to a congregation after a bender).

One of the best RPGs

This game despite the odd bugs you might find here and there is quite possibly one of the best RPGs of all time for me up there with Gothic 1 and 2, a LOT of content to go through in the game especially when counting all of the dlcs in the game, beautiful graphics, non linear, historically accurate and overall realistic - you won't be going up on your own against 5 bandits and killing them off without a scratch even in the late game. Last but not least the game is quite frequently on sale but even when it is not it is just £24,99 for the base game and £34,99 with all of the dlcs. Highly recommended.

A great game, but imperfect

This is a really good game. I had a lot of fun with it and kept playing until I'd seen and done everything (I think). Note that a lot of quests are hidden and many characters have follow-up quests, so keep asking the innkeepers if there are things to do. Unfortunately like many other reviews have noted, there are still a bunch of bugs. I had issues with perpetual loading screens at several points and one or two freezes and CTDs. Some perpetual loading screens can be solved if you use Escape button and skip the cutscene, but at least one of them was totally unsolveable and I had to avoid that character at all costs (fortunately not a main quest character). There are a bunch of balance and pacing issues and an overall lack of polish that I think is fairly typical of a studio's first game. Some skills level up too fast and others level up too slow (lockpicking is a good example), even with a thief playstyle and reading all the lockpicking books and doing all the thieving quests, I still couldn't open all the chests by the end of the game and my skill was only 16. There are a few quests that don't properly reflect some of the decisions you made and things like that but nothing critical. Gear balance is a bit broken. You will end the game with >100k groschen and nothing to spend it on, simply from looting people you kill. What would have been better is if bandit gear topped out at low level plate or even chainmail, forcing you to find treasure/win the tournament/ buy from an armourer to get top level gear. Instead, by midgame you can find the finest smithed cuirasses and pauldrons on random bandits so there's nothing to spend your money on and no point visiting an armorer to go shopping. Still, this is a really enjoyable game, I really liked it and I wish there was more content for it / I hope there's a sequel. I also hope they do another game like this (same systems, levelling up etc) but in a fantasy world - that would be amazing.
