Work well, sometimes frustrating.

Don't know what people here are complaining about, maybe stuff got fixed by now. It's an old game and the AI of your teammates will make them die often for stupid reason. But the whole game plus expansion pack is included and works well (Windows 11), there is also a second .exe in the installation folder for those who are wondering. So far I never experienced any crashes, stutters or game breaking bugs. The game does not come with native widescreen support,which is annyoing but to be expected. All in all, it runs as I remember on my old XP PC, and i don't know what else was to be expected.

Simply perfect!

This game is perfect! It plays out as a sort-of mix between 'Rainbow Six', 'Commandos' and 'Splinter Cell', and I'd even stretch as to call it a sort-of predecessor to OP: Flashpoint. Though this is H&D: a series well mentioning on its' own. Sadly, it's been too far since it was continued. H&D2 offers epic scenarios where you control four soldiers during ww2, each with different stats and each of them learning what you practice during each mission. A character firing a lot might increase shooting, a character sneaking around and picking a lot of locks may increase in just those skills instead. During the missions you'll need to capture important people, reach objectives, blow things up, hold areas and sometimes stay alive. During most of the missions, however, losing a squad member does not mean "game over", only you loose that character from the remainder of the game. So you'd better not have them killed. And you won't be able to replace his slot in the squad until the scenario is completed. You never really know what might come up between the missions in a scenario, so you'd also better make sure to gear up for a spectrum of situations and make sure you pack your backpack sensefully. There are lots of guns with great feeling to them (oh, the BAR in this game, it's historically good!) and while it doesn't seem to actually help, chosing your uniforms adds much to the fun. This game truly gives lots of amazing play-time as it plays out in a wide range of environments; Norways winter, the African desert, Central-european cities and, well, yes even in Burma, just to mention a few. Also, the game offers a just as wide range of playabiliy; you could main most missions as the stealthy one, timely infiltrating up close with the knife, or sniping afar, suppressing with an MG or just running and gunning using subs with heaps of ammunition clips. A good strategy, I'd say, is often cruicial to succeed. All nostalgia aside, this game still holds up excellently. It's a must-try.

Perfect game for your money

I didn't bought it on GOG, but i have retail version. So basically this is 1st or 3rd person shooter done by the same guys that done Vietcong or Mafia. Gameplay is very nice and smooth. There are several difficulties which you can choose. You can also select your crew members and change their weapons and gear. There is this "level up" system where you promote to sergeant or colonel. This also applies for your crewmates. During the game you can randomly switch between them. Game has interesting levels with snow, mountains, sand and many others. Graphics is not really groundbreaking, but it's nice and pretty to look at. By the way you can drive a car ! Not many old games in WW2 do that. You can sit in car with your crew fall to the enemy territorry and shoot everybody. Like those old HW movies. Pros: -Gameplay -Promote system -Weapon mechanics -Soldier management -Car mechanics Cons: -Bugs -There is no mp anymore..

Much ahead of its time.

Loved that game. Part 1 was full of bugs but had excellent playability. Part 2 even better, less bugs, more action. What struck me with this game was an extreme level of difficulty, comparing to other shooters of its time. Sometimes one shot meant death. Yeah, this were hard times, lads.

Too many people are unaware of this gem

Too many people are unaware of this tactical shooter gem. I'd rank it right up there with SWAT 3/4 and the Rainbow Six series. I don't have many bad things to say about this game. It features great tactical squad-based WW2 gameplay as the SAS. There's a lot of equipment to choose from and lots of great missions with a lot of variety. Then it has this amazing tactical map, on which you can assign precise orders to your squad members; this lifts the tactical aspect of this game to a whole another level. Direct orders can also be issued to your teammates if you're not fond of the tactical map. The shooting and gunplay itself is a lot of fun too. This is one of those games I keep coming back to over and over again, and now I'm happy that it's finally available on GOG. I'd recommend this game to every tactical shooter fan.
