Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

This game was flawed, yes, but still awesome. The graphics were incredible at the time (barely ran on my PC back then) and the game was fun, challenging and mature. Those who dismiss it because it isn't as good as Bloodlines are firstly comparing two completely different games, and secondly will be missing out on a unique experience, with excellent music, characters, atmosphere and progression. I highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy games of this type. Few games really explore vampirism quite as deeply as Masquerade, and that includes Bloodlines.

VTM: Redemption is an excellent action-RPG set in the VTM universe. You play a young crusader named Christof who is turned during the Middle Ages and subsequently buried unalive for five or six centuries. Christof's mission is to find some way to redeem both himself and his lost love Anezka. Along the way, he joins forces with (and does battle against) representatives of many of the clans found in the game fiction. As Christof and his companions level up, their blood pools and the different clan-related blood abilities they can access increase. Unfotunately, unlike in Troika's 2004 follow-up, in Redemption, the player does not get to choose the protagonist's clan (he is made a Brujah). Nevertheless, Christof's story and the characters he meets are compelling and the gameplay is quite good. This is one of those underrated gems that you might have missed the first time around; if so, grab it.

This game is great. I loved this game. It was a fun rpg that exposed White wolf's RPG to the world. The politics the depth of the classes where unheard of for a Vampire game. Before this there weren't many vampire themed games. Most rpgs take place in one time while this game spawned many different ages. Good story and fun gameplay. The only reason this game didn't do better was because it came out right before Diablo II. I remember one reviewer said they didn't like hack/slash rpgs (yes it has hack/slash) so they were waiting for Diablo II, which was a hack/slash game and wasn't anywhere near as good as this one. If you didn't play it before now is your chance. Don't miss out on one of the most interesting and original PC RPGs.

I love this game, it is a classic and though I appreciate the effort of bringing it to Windows 7, it's unplayable. When I die and load a game, enemies don't respawn and loot doesn't go back to its place. Also, I have no XP. It's completely impossible to play the game like this. Also, it doesn't help to save a lot. I can't overwrite a save so when I load one where I though I was deep inside the first dungeon I end up at the start of the game again. You can't delete save slots and you only have ten. I tried re-installing several times but the saves are still there for some reason. And the enemies I killed never return so I'm stuck without that precious first XP. It's unplayable, I'm sorry.

Dobrze że oprócz tej świetnej gry jest także Bloodlines. Ale wracając do Redemption. To kawał porządnej gry opartej o world of darknes wraz z tytułową maskaradą w tle, gra ma spójną całość, walki bywają emocjonujące ale dzisiaj dla wielu graczy sztuczna inteligencja będzie czasami zachowywać się co najmniej nieracjonalnie gdy otrzymają za dużo obrażeń. wtedy biegają bez celu jak dziecko we mgle. Detekcja kolizji czasami również może dostać sporadycznego świra ale przy bossach jest ok. Bossowie są trudni a zwłaszcza na samy początku zabawy ( kto stoczył walkę z Mnichem w klasztorze ten wie o czym mowa). Fabuła jest super i rozkręca się stopniowo bez nawału informacji od początku zabawy. Zasady gry dowiadujemy się z filmików zrobionych na silniku gry aby nie wybić grającego z rytmu ( podobnie jak w Half Life miało to zastosowanie). Mimo że jest długa a fabuła ładnie przedstawiona to niestety gra jest wściekle liniowa pomimo otwartości miasta. Grafika na wyższych rozdzielczościach nie straszy brzydotą ale widać styl gier tego okresu. Postaciom zdarza się zablokować gdzieś dlatego polecam częste zapisywanie stanu rozgrywki zanim dokonamy podziału funkcji dla naszych podopiecznych. Zagrać jak najbardziej warto :].
