Can be frustrating

It's a very fun game for a niche player. But you will need practice. Strangely I find myself drawn to these challenging and sometimes frustrating games. Its mechanics are unique but that is part of the experience. You really feel yourself like an exorcist struggling to say their lines while a posessed person is doing everything in their power to stop you and to ruin your concentration. I find the mix of mechanics fits it very well. I think the pixelart speaks for itself. It is absolutely stunning! Very well made. The writing is funny, it is purposefully written in a "so bad it's good" style and reminds you of B-movies, or Quentin Tarantino. You get quite the Kill Bill vive when going to Napoli to meet your master... There are fourth wall breaks and weird characters. it doesn't always land its jokes, but it's pretty good when it does. Certainly not for everybody. Be sure to replay the earlier levels as you will receive items which can help you make more progress. This will make it less frustrating and aid your typing skills a bit. And be patient! It can seem grindy, but you will get better. So: only for the right people, but at a sale you cannot go wrong. Well worth it for me!

The game should make up its mind.

As a typing game, you have to leave the typing way too much to maneuver the character. As a top-down action game, you have to type a lot. This makes it a bit of "worst of both worlds" and it's a pity. The typing mechanism is good, the way it integrated in the game is well done, the art is very good for a pixel-art game, and the story is engaging. But above it all it's just a mess to play, and that's the overall issue.

Way too grindy

Title says it. Also as some said before: fights are too long, no "save points", repeat over and over and over and over the ouverture for the 1 minute hard bit, die in a mess of projectiles, repeat. No ability to recover health points. Too bad, since it is an interesting title.

Hidden gem

I've never played a typing game or a bullet hell but the Textorcist was a really good surprise, +now i've learnt touch typing, So playing it was actually taught me a valuable skill. The musics are really good, the sprite art is nice, but it's sometimes hard to appreciate it because you are dodging a thousand bullets. The story, while nothing incredible is nothing stunning. As many say it, going from moving to typing is a bit hard but It's quick to lean and adapt. a worthy purchase

Really nice, sometimes unfinished

It's quite a challenging game really - if well played it lasts an hour and a half, it can last vastly more if you get dragged by the boss fights, for me three of the last four bosses mainly. As positives it has: The interesting mechanics (even to particularly slow typist or bad at coordinating typing and moving, you'll get used to it after a while - it remains though that at times it'll get real rough nevertheless, for example, last part of the last boss has a moveset that requires fine small movements with the right hand to dodge while simultaneously having your left hand flipping left and right because the word's keys rest at opposite ends of the kb) The quaint aesthetic The many nice subtle references* (specially if you're italian like me)Superb soundtrack And above all the demons designs. Bonus: As an italian that knows other italians (and myself...), I was scared the english would be somewhat crappy, but it turned out to be legit well-written As a negative, I'd put the general roughness at some parts, like: It lacks some post-game features, for example a way to rewatch the cutscenes and credits; and to relive parts that aren't related to the boss fights. (Maybe it could be doable through the holyvetti: typing credits would open the credits, typing cutscenes would open a screen from which to play them, etc.); or an updated journal. The mixing of different text formats gets slightly excessive References sometimes are too direct Some less-judgemental critiques: Something post-game to give some life, like keeping magda/lilly The closet doesn't unlock additional clothes, I guess impossible due to time constraints. *The name itself, Ray bibbia, is a pun - bibbia is italian for bible, ray should be obvious, then rebibbia is an actual neighboorhood in Rome, known for its sketchy activity. The japanese naples: is it a pokemon reference, a jojo one, or a joke with the hermit in the volcano thing? I fully think it deserves the five stars I gave
