Despite the film's low budget, director Dan Smith was able to craft an engrossing story about strange alien beings and titan-size monsters (sometimes filming without a script!). While The Deadly Tower of Monsters would've been better with optional camera control, a New Game + mode and more gameplay combos, it's still a fitting tribute to the long-lost era of 50's sci-fi. It's still a fun romp through a crazy world, and it's got one of the better final acts you'll find in a game like this, complete with a twist that will send you for a comical loop. Hop in and enjoy the cheese.

As a whole, The Deadly Tower of Monsters does a phenomenal job of creating exactly the experience that was advertised. Crammed to the gills with campy humor and a series B-movie look and feel, this is nearly a must-play for anyone who's a fan of the old, cheesy films of the past or who enjoys listening to C-list directors ramble near-incoherently about their creations.

Parody Masterpiece

One of the funniest games i have ever played. This game is a parody of sci fi b-movies, combined with great graphics and fluid gameplay. You can switch between 3 characters and try to make it from the bottom of the tower to the top. Its a simple action game. I like cheesy sci fi a lot like Flash Gordon or Starcrash andthis game captures the spirit of these movies. You have a mad scientist, an evil emperor and king kong. And deathrays! There are so many details that make you lough, for example anything that flies in the game "hangs" on a transparent string. If you are a fan of cheesy sci fi and enjoyed watching MST3K get this game.

Tower of Fun

The Deadly Tower of Monsters can be described by just two words: style and fun. This twin stick shooter is a brilliant parody of action sci-fi B-movies of mid 20th century. You have to guide the hero, the heroine, and their robot sidekick through a giant tower that reaches into cosmos. The strongest asset of the game is its attention to detail when it comes to its movie style. There's a continuous commentary by the movie director for the DVD re-release, some monsters have slightly visible strings attached, others look like being animated via stop motion, there are plastic boulders that deflate on being destroyed, the cinematographer obviously loved lens flare, and you can't even skip movie sequences - you have to fast forward through them! Throw in a few pop-cultural references for a better taste, and if you like your games funny, satisfaction is guaranteed. The gameplay is fluid, there are a plenty of weapons (melee and ranged) and a huge variety of monsters, and apart from the shooting, has a few puzzles (mostly optional). Near the end (took me about 10 hours to complete), a bit of fatigue of too much of the same came, but the game made up for it by the final twists of the story. Verdict: It's a bit odd kind of maths, but anyway... I'd give The Deadly Tower of Monsters 5 shining stars for style (incl. graphics and soundtrack), the gameplay deserves about 3.5 stars, but the overall score with me still is 5. It's a unique game that deserves your attention.

Huge surprise here

I didn't expect much from this title, but it really surprised me. Fun, light gameplay; a terrific spoof of 50s and 60s sci-fi; and a tower that keeps going up and up in a contiguous world makes for something really unique and great. I can't emphasize enough that the way they do the spoof here is so good, it's way ahead of any other spoof you may have played. BTW, the 60's sci-fi concept initially turned me off to the game. Don't let it do the same to you. This isn't the way some games adopt a cheesy sci-fi 'tone', ending up uneven and disappointing. This is the real deal -- a full-on spoof in a way not seen before in gaming as far as I know. It's great. The closest thing I can think of is Freedom Force, but even FF didn't take it to the same extent and was only 'inspired' by golden age comics.

HA!

A video game that pays tribute to classic sci-fi movies that does meta-humor very well. It wasn't developed by Atlus, but it has Atlus written all over. It's not perfect. The controls are a bit wonky, it's tough to find out where to go sometimes, and the gameplay does get a bit repetitious. But I can look past all those flaws to enjoy the charm and humor. Love how they made the monsters move like they were animated with stop motion.

Nice platform game even for casual play

A very nice platform game, haven't finished it yet but spend a few hours on it. Normally I don't like platform games. (Actually the only one I liked was Duke Nukem Manhattan project). Very original to make it like an old B-Movie and they really nailed the sounds, art and music and the narator is fun. Things I especially like: * That you can teleport to any location you've been to at any moment. * You can set the game to easy ( important for me since I suck at platform games ). Certainly worth the 3 bucks I paid.
