Beautiful experience.
Really well done voice acting by the main guy. Fun worlds, and plenty of fun puzzles. Though one stumped me, mostly because i didn't check everything. Absolutly a fun time!

Not the Best in the Series
I think this might actually be the worst game in the Myst series. It is by far not a bad game, but it's also not nearly as good as Myst and Riven. I haven't played the other ones yet, but I hope they are better. So what's so bad about it? Well, there are many minor things. For example the new 360 degrees view is implemented in a way that hinders fast and fluid movement. In the other two games, you could speed through a whole age within seconds if you needed to go to a different puzzle location quickly. While cinematics for elevators and so on are still skipable, you now have to wait for the view to automatically face in the direction first. This is not skipable and can take several seconds. The puzzles focus much less on logic and much more on trial and error. There is a whole age where I did not have to make a single note but just clicked through it until I was done. Other puzzles just give you the solution beforehand. In Riven, you had to collect clues over the whole world and many puzzles were related. That's not the case here. At last, the elephant in the room: The story. Oh boy. In Myst, you did not know that you had an antagonist until late in the game. In Riven, the antagonist was sympathetic and never did you any harm (if you did not get a bad ending). Here, you are facing the Riddler. He is making you solve puzzles, which means they are not an organic part of the worlds. The worlds are explicitly there to be puzzles. Since, as the creators say, Myst was all about the idea of creating puzzles that seem to belong in their envirmonments, this was most offputting to me.

Dobra, staroszkolna przygoda.
Zacznijmy od tego, że aby w pełni zrozumieć fabułę tej gry, należałoby najsampierw zagrać w Myst oraz Riven. Dzięki temu mając jako takie pojęcie o historii, będziemy również przyzwyczajeni do wyglądu tej gry i poruszania się w niej. Po raz pierwszy bowiem mamy możliwość swobodnego rozglądania się w naprawdę ładnych lokacjach, jednak poruszanie się to nadal skakanie z klatki na klatkę. Ogromnym plusami Mysta III, są bez wątpienia skomplikowane zagadki (bez kartki i ołówka nie podchodź, tu naprawdę warto notować wszystko co zobaczymy lub przeczytamy) oraz znakomite aktorstwo. Tak, właśnie! Brad Dourif w roli antagonisty Saavedro, jest tak impulsywny i ekspresyjny, że nie sposób go nie lubić, mimo iż gotów jest przywalić nam młotkiem w głowę. Odkrywając historię, można do niego nawet poczuć sympatię, zrozumieć jego ból. Estetyka poszczególnych światów jest cudownie wręcz zróżnicowana (szczególnie Amateria i jej rollercoastery), schemat zagadek zmienia się wraz z nimi, a muzyka świetnie buduje klimat. Minusem produkcji może być nieco antyklimatyczne zakończenie (to kanoniczne oczywiście, bo gra ma ich aż cztery!). W ogólnym rozrachunku Myst III jest bardzo dobrą grą, jednak w porównaniu do reszty serii, poziom lekko oklapł ;) Polecam, 8,5/10.

Great adventure; fantastic antagonist
I really enjoyed my time with Myst III. It's a reliably atmospheric and immersive adventure with an excellent ambient soundtrack. For someone who found the puzzles in Riven to be somewhat impenetrable, the puzzles in Exile by and large felt more accessible, intuitive, and contained, while still retaining the challenge you'd expect of Myst. Its greatest selling point for me is Saavedro: a compelling, complex, and affecting antagonist; excellently performed by Brad Dourif. The writing, scenario, and the Ages are all neatly and satisfyingly entwined. All in all, Myst III is a diverting experience and is a very happy recommendation.
