Ultherst was once a peaceful, God-fearing land until the Three Scourges of God came to pass as foretold by Saint Ezekiel, one of the twelve followers of the First Prophet. First came the famine that devasted the populace. Next came the plague that added more unfortunate souls on Death’s abacus. Finally came the great rain of fire, and death fell down on sinner and innocent alike, blood flooding the streets in place of water. The people, in their desperation, turned away from the Holy Mother Church and delved deep into pagan decadence or succumbed to the temptation of the Devil. You have been charged with the office of Inquisitor. It is up to you to investigate crimes against the one true faith and root out heresy--using any and all means necessary. As in all best computer RPGs--the most important choices are yours to make.

Played it (for maybe 4 hours) on Steam a few years ago.
Enemies are nigh invulnerable, and combat seems to be all about making sure you have ALL the potions, lest you die. I remember I simply deleted it when I no longer had money for potions.
I find it weird that virtually all enemies in the first few hours can kill you if you don't have potions. This, of course, prevented me from enjoying any other part of the game.
This could have been a great game. However due to some really bad game mechanics and how the game is designed, Inquisitor is let down by some really bad design choices that result in a game which is one-quarter charming and engrossing, but three-quarters frustrating, repetitive and monotonous in the extreme. This game has some of the worst game balance I have ever seen in an RPG, overly linear quest design, a lack of player influence on the story, awful combat, and massive amounts of filler content, Inquisitor's leaves nothing to be desired. While it does have its strong points, it will take an incredibly strong-willed player to endure the dozens upon dozens of hours of torturous gameplay it takes to reach the good parts.
If you want to play a game that is fun and you can enjoy the story, likely you will have a tough time defeating the first few enemies, with maybe 3 health and stamina potions I might add. I played the game to circumvent that with a high stamina and the game was still just a disaster.
There's a reason people are called insane when it takes 12 years to finish a game and it comes out like this.
I wanted to like this game. I have been watching it since inception and thought it looked like a decent Diablo clone in a interesting setting. It has been in my cart more than once. But lack of funds, time and drive held me off. Then I started seeing some of the reviews and kind of let it go by the wayside. Then I saw it for a buck and change on a flash sale! How could I go wrong! Purchased it and laughed maniacally with how my procrastination had paid off! I was so smart!
Let me not mince words... Undoubtedly, without pause, the worst money I have ever spent on GOG. I wont bore you with a long review of why I think this, many people will counter my every syllable I am sure. Lets just say in the long history of my gaming career, I have never played a game so hell bent on punishing its players. Not through difficulty or bugs or lost opportunity to follow a story, but through sheer, mundane, boredom. Boring to look at, boring to play, boring to advance, boring to do just about anything. "Inquisitor" is apply named and has every reason to be sold for a buck and change.
Dont take my word for it. Go out and read some reviews. However, if you, like me, decided after some research "It still looks like it could be cool! am gonna wait for a sweet sale! How bad could it be?" I am here to tell you, its that bad. Go buy yourself a pack of gum instead. It will provide much more enjoyment than this.
I cannot get the game to work. I get the message out of range. If I could get it to work, I would probably rate this game higher, but seeing as how I wasted $14.99 for something that is just taking up hard drive space, I can give this no more than 1 star.
