some info of what to expect ...
... it is "organic": one because villagers pick the locations of their homes themselves, you only assign the zone (sure, you could break it down again). Second, because you place all the other buildings where and how you want to, freely without any grid for position or rotation. Third: Villagers trample out paths over time which also adds to the feeling of organic settlement development. It is detailled: Decorations are not purely cosmetic, some of them help you progress or gain influence (I usually dont't care much for cosmetics if everything works, but here even my "functional" settlements look nice now). Only a few decorations are required to upgrade houses and I must admit it's fun placing lanterns and admire everything at night. Another detail: You can even specify the tone (and more) of church bells. There's no day/night cycle, but you can switch at will to day, night, dusk or rain. This not only changes the lighting, but the ambient sounds as well (like hearing frogs in the night near a lake). Never experienced a crash for like 20+ hours with longest session being 7 hours straight. And by now they fixed even more crashes other people had with hotfixes each day in the first week after release.
