A LEGENDARY RTS for beginners...

Yes, this game leaves aside all the crap about micromanaging units and other crap and focuses more on action, with as little management as possible. I'm not really into Warcraft, StarCraft and any other "traditional" RTS, as they are boring with their micromanagement and some RPG features. Honestly? Buy this GREAT ACTION RTS! Or rather, there is: Total Annihilation (1997) - The first and KING of RTS! =D

It's decent.

It's an okay game for the era it was released I bought this because I used to play this as a kid. It does have it's flaws such as no details of units such as their stats, or abilities even looking online I was unable to see what the units actually do/how strong they are. Another big issue I have with this game is how the FOW is implemented. All units are pretty much blind unless they're flying. An enemy could be shooting you a few unit lengths away and if you don't have a flyer flying overhead there's a good chance you won't be able to see them and you will have to run up to almost melee range to see them. Additionally to make it more annoying there's no attack move command, instead you'll be using patrol. Even though this game does have its flaws, I still enjoy it, the different factions/races are interesting and diverse enough in mechanics & unit roster. I would only recommend this game if you've played it back in the day and want the nostalgia hit or if you're an avid RTS player and are looking for another RTS to play, It's definetly not a masterpiece if I had to pick a RTS from 1999 it would be DK2/AOE2 over TAK.

Love it, but multiplayer doesn't work

I used to play this with my kids for years, but as of 2022 I have not been able to get any version of multiplayer to work with this game. I'm not sure if there has been a patch or what, but as of now, no multiplayer option. If this gets fixed, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Timeless Classic Fun

Childhood favorite. This game stands the test of time as one of the best strategy games of all time. 5 playable factions, many maps, strategies, and infinite amount of replayability. Better with friends, but the AI is doable! One of the games where it doesn't automagically see you, and plays by the fog of war rules!

The begining of Cavedogs downfall.

TA Kingdoms (even with the Iron Plauge Expansion) is a under par experience for gamers, who knew and love the original TA. The "fantasy" setting, the lack of different units, the slow paced and boring gameplay and only one rescource makes this game not worth playing. If you found TA to be fun, the do yourself a favor and steer away from this mess.
