A Wonderful Game!

This game sucked so many hours out of my life when it first came out. I remember it was one of my first significant forays into both map editing and RTS playing. It keeps true to the Total Annihilation theme of combat between large, hulking behemoths rather than an onslaught of underarmored, underpowered goons. Granted, it hasn't aged particularly well and there are some small issues with the map editor (tile alignment being a big one if I recall correctly), but it's still a solid purchase - ESPECIALLY at $5.99! You won't be disappointed!

Love it, but multiplayer doesn't work

I used to play this with my kids for years, but as of 2022 I have not been able to get any version of multiplayer to work with this game. I'm not sure if there has been a patch or what, but as of now, no multiplayer option. If this gets fixed, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Timeless Classic Fun

Childhood favorite. This game stands the test of time as one of the best strategy games of all time. 5 playable factions, many maps, strategies, and infinite amount of replayability. Better with friends, but the AI is doable! One of the games where it doesn't automagically see you, and plays by the fog of war rules!

Oldie, but a goodie

The core game is great. Lots of units and each army is very different. The story mode is fairly deep, lots of cut-scenes, and different levels. The controls are from the dark ages. There is a 1080p mode, but its not a very smooth scaling, so combined with the clunky controls, it makes managing your army tough work. It works with windows 10, but, every time a pop up appears the game crashes. And windows 10 loves shoving popups in your face. I'm getting close to turning off everything I can, but the 10% battery warning also crashes the game, which is incredibly annoying. to rub salt into the wound there are a few banners for windows keys that work fine - so the pop ups could leave the game running, but they don't.

Is not nearly as good as the Original

This is a fun game when playing the computer but is basically a stalemate when playing against other very experienced players. Going from the Original Total Annihilation to this was a huge step Down. We were thrilled when it came out! Then sorely disappointed. I had the same experience when first playing my friend head to head, then a week later playing my Brother head to head. After several hours of deadlock, My friend announced, " I don't want to play this anymore". A week later same thing.. my Brother said the same thing. That was new for all of us. ( I was thinking the same thing as the game lingered on. I was being polite to my guests...they were right). If your new to these games you might have a different experience. Do Not judge the original based on this sequel and its expansion. Total Annihilation Commander Pack is a steal at the price you can get it for on GOG. Just buy it! TA Kingdoms was a huge misstep for the designers. ( The theory was "Less is Better", but it failed.
