Fun Murder-Mystery Game
It took a little over 9 hours to get to 100%, and Obra Dinn was fun for pretty much all of that. I particularly enjoyed the latter half of the game, once you've unlocked all the different scenes and can quickly bounce around between them. The pacing is excellent. Obra Dinn is basically a huge first-person Sudoku puzzle with clues, except that when you get three items correct, the game verifies them. What that means is that you start with a huge range of mysteries and gradually whittle them down, and every time the game says that you were correct about some things, you can use those as definitive proof to solve more mysteries. So the speed of solving actually accelerates over time, which is quite a bit of fun. The graphics are awesome, the voice acting and soundwork are atmospheric, the controls are tight, the book interface is particularly helpful. The game world was carefully designed to provide just the right amount of detail for focusing on your objectives. Every scene looks carefully arranged with that purpose in mind, and the environmental hints feel fair. I strongly recommend this game if you would enjoy piecing together a mystery.
