Near Perfect Platformer

It seems that the French developers knew very early on how to make perfect 2d platformers (Rayman) and 3d Action Adventure games (Little Big Adventure 1&2)! This game has absolutely wonderful graphics with that mid 90's chunkiness. Prepare to have your ass handed to you after the first world, and a PSA for anyone who hasnt played this game before, You HAVE to complete EVERY level 100% before youre allowed to go to the final level. This version of the game comes with the level editor and other custom levels, at the expense of not coming with the full soundtrack in its music folder. This can easily be remedied by installing the full soundtrack and copying it into Rayman's Music folder. Music fix

In Rayman Control Panel, there is a button to replace the incomplete music files Very easy to do, and works perferctly after that!

Sadly not as good as it should be

When I first bought and downloaded Rayman GOLD from GOG.com, I expected it to quite simply be a port, of sorts, of the Playstation X-version of the game. Sadly... I was mistaken. I can't claim to be omniscient when it comes to the PC-version of Rayman, but having played it on PSX through-and-through, it felt VERY different on PC from how it was on PSX. The music was off, looping the same track over and over, if it played at all. The controls were (at best) poor, and the sound felt stale and jagged. So sadly... this game is not as good as it should be. The Playstation X-version still reigns supreme over the fairly buggy and unreliable PC-version.

The PlayStation version is the best!

Rayman Forever is the inferior version due to space limitations from the game disc when it came out in 1999. A lot of things had to be cut and compressed in order to fit everything on the single PC CD game disc. Also, the game is made even harder than before making the gameplay tedious if you die and die again. So, I recommend playing the original PlayStation version which it came out first in 1995, since the game disc can hold up to 51 tracks and each music track is separate unlike the PC version and sound better. Also, the sounds and levels are much better! So, if you want to complete your Rayman PC trilogy go ahead and get this as well. But, the PSX version is the best!

Nice but....

My antivirus programme detects 2 viruses. 2 trojan horses. I don't know if it was a mistake so I tried installing it on my other desktop and it said the same thing (they both use different antivirus software) I want to be clarified on the issue. Is it something I should worry about, and if it IS an actual virus, is it something that can be patched away in a future update?
