Quick thoughts

- Top tier (c)RPG but there is still plenty of room for improvement - Looks beautiful - Highest difficulty level offers a real challenge - Has many QoL improvements - You get to manage a ship, which is pretty cool - Almost no combat verticality - No hold position command during battle, resulting often in chaos - Still a bit buggy - Puzzles are, like in all RPGs, meh *Editors' Pick* https://pixelloot.com

Decent game

Deadfire is a pretty good game. I like the pirate setting and the turn-based mode. There are some interesting characters too. Overall the game feels a little flat/bland however. It could use some stronger emotions and stronger flavor. (Hard to explain.) There are a few irritating things: 1. loading times between areas are super long 2. the ship combat is strange and simplistic, so I simply boarded every vessel I came across instead

Sprawling Immersive RPG

I really liked the first POE game but the sequel is an improvement in terms of setting, an island archipelago with a South Asian cultures flavour, intriguing plot and some returing characters from the first game, The only thing I didn't like is travelling the overworld through a ship from the map, at first it was pretty fun to manage and upgrade the ship and supplies but after a while it became a tedfious busy work to commute. Still Pillars of Eternity Deadfire is must play modern CRPG.

Solid title, but held back by GOG Galaxy

I regret installing this game via GoG Galaxy. Not only won't some of the DLCs that I own activate (even though I also installed them manually via the downloadable exes), the game also does not manage to verify its files. (stuck at 0% indefinetly). This is on fast fiber internet and running on PCIx4 m.2 NVME SSD with plenty of space left on the System SSD for TEMP files. When the game starts up, clicking the GoG overlay makes windows throw up a "program not responding warning". Nice. Probably Unity engine's fault. When closing the game, GoG client keeps sticking around like a guest that won't leave. The game itself is nice. Solid world building great characters and voice acting. All in All, more PoE, with what seems to be decent improvements over the first game. Hope the ending is better/less rushed, but I'm not that far into the game. 10/10 Wish Obsidian had gotten the Baldurs Gate licence to make BG3.

almost perfect

This is a great game but we have 2020 and there are still some bugs with vanishing NPCs and locked quests. Technology is also outdated - after almost 100h in game I was really in pain because of tons of loadingscreens. With HDD loadings are really annoying in this particular game. But still - the mainplot is very interesting (however quite short in comparision to rest of the game) and the worldbuilding with sidequests is amazing -this is the strongest advantage of PoE.
