Epic Tavern is a fantasy-management-RPG where you rule the land from your Tavern. Recruit heroes, send them on quests, and reap the rewards! The Adventurers: A multitude of characters drawn from 20+ classes and walks of life will visit your tavern. Mages, warriors, assassins, and more will be at your disposal! Befriend them over drinks and learn their secrets. Between quests, take their experience, level them up, and influence the nature of their destiny.


The World: You will send your new friends on quests to explore the land of Beor. These quests unfold into an epic storyline unique to your playthrough. Epic Tavern pushes the limits of a player-centric narrative and creates a brand new model of the classic RPG experience. The impact of your choices will inexorably change your adventurers and the World itself!


Attract Adventurers: Build a legendary Tavern that draws the greatest heroes in the world. Befriend your patrons by loosening them up with frothy pints and hire the Adventurers whose traits you desire.


Unlock Quests: Perk up your ears and listen for whispers and rumors to find the opportunities you'd like your Adventurers to pursue.


Assemble your Party: Choose your heroes based on their skills and strengths. Equip them with special weapons and relics, and then send them off to claim victory in their quests.

Fun casual game

I own the steam early access version, really glad to see this on GOG. I enjoy the game. It's a fun combination of casual clicking and story based adventures with a little tavern tycoon built in. Basically the game is: - You serve drinks and food to tavern guests to gain money and fortune. The mini game is to try and keep a serving streak alive to maximize fame and profit. - You can hire adventurers from the tavern guests and learn there stories. - At the end of each serving round you can take a group of adventurers out on a quest. Quests can grant new tavern features, new food and drink items, or weapons / loot the adventurers can wear. - After the quest you review inventory, order food and drink, level up characters, if they gained a level, and manage any injuries (check chars into the infirmary, for example). - Rinse and repeat. This combination just works for me, I find each quest fun and the click to serve mini game is a nice interlude to the rest of the action.

Dissapointed Experience

I bought the game after read the user reviews and -to be honest- I am a bit dissapointed with the game. There are two main stages (inn management and questing). The first one is gated and you advance really slowly. Sometimes adventures told you their history but they are very boring and don´t feel that really matter. The second stage -questing- is very linear: read, roll, read, roll, roll, read, read... I only hope you can choose several choices but you can´t. So, the game was a boring experience to me and i uninstalled it until it releases and i will try again if it improves.

It's ok.

I was expecting more of a Tycoon game. But all Tycooning related activities are gated behind quests. Expanding the food menu is quest gated, building guest rooms is quest gated (they don't generate income, you just plop your sick or wounded heroes in there to clear debuffs for a day.) Supposedly you'll be able to buy gear to upgrade your adventurers eventually, because the quests barely drop loot. The game would be better if the quests dropped more loot and provided a macro storyline for the world outside the tavern. Instead, the game robs itself of any feeling epicness by wasting the adventurer's time fixing leaky roofs. The map has alot of settlements nearby, the prudent tavern keeper can probably find a day laborer to do it for a bit of gold... Overall, I was expecting a Recettear style game with shop anagement and questing elements. The current product more akin to a poor man's Darkest Dungeon... or cookie clicker. Will future updates resolve my issues? I doubt it, the current progress of the game is a good indicator of the design philosophy behind it, and it's not really what I was after.

Great idea, lacks polish

I bought this expecting a diamond in the rough, but it is more like graphite. The game: In the game you play "not exactly" a tavern owner because you also oversee the adventurers while they are on a quest. Maybe a coach? Or?? The game has two phases - run your tavern and oversee the quest. I have a hard time mentally shifting gears between the two, it just seems clunky. Much of the GUI is clunky. But as an indie this can be forgiven. The Tavern: You generally gain more assets by running an upbeat well stocked tavern where you get people drinking and eating. Someone might offer up a new quest or offer to join your team of adventurers. I normally feel more like a waiter than a tavern owner in this phase. You need to fulfill requirements in order to improve your tavern. So if you want an infirmary, that's a quest reward. Some people don't like this, but I don't mind it, at least I start to feel like I have some decisions to make. The Quests: When your people go on quests you go: click, (read) click, (read) click, (read) click... etc. Maybe there is a way to resolve the quests automatically but I haven't noticed it. You pick the quest members from your pool of adventurers. If they get hurt you need to heal them in the tavern phase. Early on they have no equipment and you don't even have a pointy stick to give them... click read click read click read... ugh... My takeaway: Split personality, neither is great. The tavern management system is not all that deep and the adventuring is click, read, click, read, click.. All in all it IS worth checking out, but don't expect much. Still in development so I'm hoping they smooth out the wrinkles and make the content a bit more engaging.
