Betrayer

I'm glad that this was brought back as it was pulled off Steam's shelves for a long while, even in spite of its single yet big shortcoming. The biggest issue I have is that Betrayer's quests are all the hecking same, you have to make 2 back-and-forths for every single one of them, to the same 2 spots, by talking to Ghosts, bringing an item back to camp, then talk to the same Ghost to then go back to the same previous spot to talk to a Shadow, then go back to camp again. This is part of telling a story, but after a while, the plot was getting lost on me as it was so freaking redundant, it doesn't matter if I pick up a gun and then the next time it's a shoe, it's the exact same gameplay loop fthat has no depth on its own and the threats don't even bother respawning after you did the first trip, whereas I thought the Dark World would always be harassing me. All that is NOT engaging, and it seriously soured my 1 week vacation from 5-6 years ago, I still remember the bummer. But not all is that bad, the gameplay CAN be engaging, you can either use stealth to kill enemies or simply go Rambo, both are very fun ways to play because in one, you have to slowly move across the big fields and forests from the potentionally overwhelming Spaniards/whatnot, which raises tension, while on the other you have to use rustic weaponry to take care of the incoming threats. The Tomahawk is a bit too broken though, as you can just pick it back up after throwing, but I had fun plaing it this way, and in fact, giving myself a lot of restrictions, such as deactivating the Compass and putting the Enemies on their hardest, made the game so much more immersive, I think I had the most fun by doing a Challenge Run. Still, you redo the same things, but I like it nonetheless. There's definitely something in there, and I would definitely recommend it in spite of its glaring fault because there's nothing quite like it. However, i would've prefered multiple Save Files, just 1 is ridiculous.

interesting mechanics, lore, atmosphere. even for a 10yr old game, its very good

I started this game thinking it wouldn't be that good. However, I did end up enjoying most of it. I didn't realize you could configure colors and saturation until about half way through the game with totally monochromatic visuals. Don't know why it defaults to that, but at least you can change it. Fighting enemies and collecting stuff is fun. Everything is laid out for you on a map. So, there's none of that wandering aimlessly bullcrap. However, you're also given a listening ability, which doesn't appear to serve much purpose since the map is so detailed. The story involves figuring out what happened to the people who died before you got there. There's a bit of mystery and development. However, the ending was abrupt and ambiguous. Awfully cliche for an indy horror game, in my opinion. Oh yeah, it was also quite buggy. Several times I couldn't even start the game. Other times, it would suddenly quit on me out of nowhere. There was also a map that would crash the game unless you lowered your video settings before traveling there. So, every single time I had to travel to that map, I'd have to quit to the main menu, change settings, load, fast travel, quit to the main menu, change settings again and finally load. Every time. That was annoying. Ultimately, it's good. Especially because I got it free. I don't know that I would have paid money for it.

Is any patch or bugfix here? When I enter 3rd map, game quits to desktop...

This is a fun game where with eerie atmosphere. The settings is a combination we don't encounter much these days. I mean, most horror games depend on darkness and jumpscares where this one accomplishes a lot with it's daylight atmosphere. Exploration is enjoyable, the story is mysterious. The downside is it started crashing a lot and it became unplayable after a while, which is a shame because I was thoroughly enjoying it! Probably gimmicks of playing an older game on newer hardware.
