... But a lot better than I normally expect for free. It's a shame that Blackpowder didn't keep going. I would like to have seen what they would have come up with next. Incidentally, the Director's Cut mod is available on moddb (I haven't played it, yet, so can't comment on it).

I was thinking about this game some days ago and didn't remember the name, but I di remember playing on a Thanksgiving break years ago, the mashed potatoes was delicious. Nostalgic. Thanks' GOG

J'avais joué une première fois à Betrayer en 2014, et c'est avec plaisir que je me suis replongé dans son étrange ambiance. Le gros du jeu pourrait se résumer ainsi: on va dans des lieux maudits, et mène notre enquête entre notre monde et celui des esprits, tout en dégommant les différents ennemis qui nous barreront la route. Une fois les lieux assainis, on peut passer au suivant. L'histoire est intéressante à suivre, bien qu'un peu prévisible sur la fin. Niveau réalisation, bien que ce soit assez sobre, visuellement ça tient la route même si il faut apprécier les ambiances quasi monochrome (on peut bien ajouter de la couleur dans les paramètres graphiques). Les points forts: -L'ambiance mystérieuse qui donne envie d'en savoir plus. -Les vieilles pétoires d'époque, qu'il faut apprendre à maîtriser. -Certains ennemis très intéressants, notamment les spectre d'indiens, qu'il faut attentivement débusquer dans les décors. Une excellente idée. -Le design sonore, sobre et efficace (quasiment aucune musiques dans le jeu). -Une carte qui aide le joueur sans trop le prendre par la main. Les points faibles: -La répétivité de l'action pourra repousser les joueurs les moins patients. -Le côté infiltration qui fonctionne de manière assez confuse. -Les attaques au corps-à-corps, peu efficaces et décevantes. -Le combat final, un peu abusé niveau difficulté. -Le jeu plante en chargeant une map (Fort Henry. Si ça vous arrive, mettez tous les détails graphiques au minimum avant de charger la map, ça règle le problème) Bref, un jeu sympathique et à l'ambiance très prenante, qui aurait pu devenir carrément excellent avec un peu plus de moyens.

It's a historical setting game about the time of the american colonialism in virginia with supernatural happenings. The game is delisted on steam after the defuntion of Blackpowder games. So is listed here on GOG for preservation. You arrive after a shipwreck in an empty place until you meet a mysterious woman in red and spaniard zombie conquistadors and you have to defend yourself with bow and arrow. Then you meet a village with weird ash statues and put a bell in its place and... things go even weirder. The game is about the investigation of what happened to the colonials while defending yourself against ghost and possesed zombies. Besides a bow you get a pistol, a musket, a tomahawk and grenades of the age setting which implies very slow reloading times. The game have a repetitive nature and crash a lot when you change more than 3 maps or get into the middle one without lowering the graphical settings, besides that i managed to beat it. The game overall is ok and i got entertained but you have to be patient with the jank.
