Back from the dead!
Thanks for bringing this one back GOG. It had been removed from Steam Store a few years ago, i think it was due to an ownership dispute but the point is it was a good and somewhat overlooked action adventure with an interesting setting. Good game and glad it's been saved from oblivion.

Imperfect yet engaging exploration
Betrayer isn't perfect, but it delivers an engaging story in an interesting world with some solid musket/sabre combat. The core loop revolves around finding lost spirits and then using clues and conversation to find how/why they died. The stories twist around each other to create an interesting world and paint a fairly grim and uncompromising view of early settlers in North America. the combat is a little stiff and doesn't explain itself well, but serves as a great tension-building element and keeps it from being a game that's entirely about wandering around and finding trinkets. While it ends up working, the sheer number of characters and ammount of dialogue can be hard to keep straight (at least for me) without a unique voices or faces. Be ready for quite a bit of reading.

One of my favorites.
Very unique setting and atmosphere. Unsettling silence broken by wind pulling every tree and bush. Ghostly voices beckoning you to find them. The ringing of the bell guiding you back. Clanging armor. Piercing pings as your lead ball penetrates. Screams of corrupted totems, and deep-sea serenity once they've been cleansed. Yeah I think it's pretty special. Tips: Bows have a sweetspot range for the crosshair. They'll arch above the crosshair at closer ranges. Crossbows dip below the cross hair at distance. Blackpowder muskets are powerful and deadly accurate at any range, but slow to reload. One of the few games I've ended up doing 100%, in 35 hours of playtime.

Beautiful game
Thank you so much for giving Betrayer for free. Played it for the first time and immediately loved the art style of this game. The atmosphere is amazing.

One of my favourite games
Slow paced FPS, extremely immersive, as creepy as beautyful. I love the kind of weapons available (like flintlock pistlos, slow to reload) and I love that you can change the colours of the ambience as you wish: from black+white+red to hyper saturated. It helps creating a different ambience, adds variation and maybe reduce the creepyness and sadness of the place if you need it
