Awesome Battletech Tactics Game

This game is perfect for me... it won't be perfect for everyone, but if you liked the old Mech Commander games, then you will love this game. I think it does a perfect job of taking the feel of the tabletop turn based game but adding a few much needed twists. The evasive chevrons for movement and the ability to guard add a lot of options and the initiative system really does let faster, lighter mechs shine if you learn how to use them properly. This game has a lot of meat to it and it will take some effort to master, but it is well worth it. The mercenary management part of the game is spot on and completely awesome. I have a beefy computer so I haven't had any performance or loading issues. But come on... are you really going to comdemn a turn based game that takes over half an hour to do one mission based on 30 seconds of load at the beginning of a mission? Especially when that will probably not be an issue some months from now. If you want, give the game a while to get a few patches... but if you have any interest in a turn based mech game, this is a gem. Voice acting is also excellent and deserves some mention.

Make Battletech great again

This is a game worthy of the title Battletech. It feels like a tabletop without minutes of confirming that everthing is in order with the rules. My first try of the tabletop put me off because it took me one hour for the first round (4mechs vs 4 mechs). But this is fast, accurate and makes fun as hell. Yeah of course there are some problems, like bugs, but come on. It got out yesterday. EA games won't even start until a week later. I miss that the charakters are not voiced, but with the amount of info your getting thrown at you, half of the buget would have gone to voiceactors. Some complain about the 'hidden' DRM and only give one Star because of this. So I give full five Stars even If I intended to only give four. Giving a game such a low rating only because you have to log in is a no-go. The game is great and give the game credtis where it belongs.

Without Crashes I'd Never Stop Playing

While the game is hardly stable, as it will crash regularly, I've yet to have it do so during a mission or in a way that makes me lose more than a few seconds of progress (10-20 usually) This game is not well optimized, so expect your top of the line machine to fare poorly. However despite this, it is, at its core, the battletech game that fans have been waiting for*. Anyone familiar with the lore will feel instantly at home, and enough is explained in a gentle and easy to grasp manner that newcomers will also enjoy the depth of the universe. The atmosphere is absolutely on-point, the music is properly styled in the grand, cyberpunk-stained fashion of the universe, and you feel the situation. Difficulty is perfectly balanced, and you will need to learn strategy on several levels to advance, from formation, to weapon selection, to heat management, to formation, right down to the design and weapon placement and synergy of your lance if you want any hope of getting through. Alternately, you can grind up a few missions for some better loadouts. Remember- if you can't crack the Jenner over your knee, you can always try an elbow, or go and get a bigger knee. Events and dialogue are immersive and well written, even when a few lines of voice are poorly cast or delivered. This game isn't terribly well polished, and it's not the most reliably functional, but the same goes for the aging house 'mechs in Battletech, and like those, this has heart and shows serious determination. After this gets a few rounds of patches, I assume it will become THE quintessential Battletech game. *ECM not included, I'm told it's en route with the Raven. There's also not as many mechs as there could be but for that one you'd be waiting a month and a half for the download at the resolutions of these robots. Renegade Legion players will also find no space combat, RPG players will feel a lack of air support, and you can't field your own vehicles, ya darn tankers. The DLCs will likely be a boon.

Great Turn Base Strategy Game

Didn't know anything about Battletech or Mechwarrior before, but this game hooked me up from the start. It does a good job introducing you to the world, even though some mechanics are not explained properly. If you are fan of TBS games like XCOM, and the sounds of fighting with gigant robots sounds exciting to you, then pick this up. Won't dissapoint you.

Table Top brought to life

This i an excellent adaptation of the original table top game. Very well done, fun to play, and mostly bug free. Worst bu is hat you cannot have too many save games or it will slow down the game's loading process for everything. Easy fix: delete your old saves, try to keep it to 4 or less, including other character files.
