RISING TENSION

Got it on Steam and I loved it. Short but really intense. The narration is at your pace and don't have to suffer long expostion. And for once in a video game you play a French soldier.
I was glad to see this return to more of a middle level between Penumbra-style self-defense and fear at the same time. The constant monster mechanic along with having to hurry before the lights go out was a great gameplay mechanic that cannot be missed. Thank you thank you thank you! There is also more than one way to play the game, giving a few different options and tools at your disposal to try to solve door traps, rats, and to find needed equipment. That was another welcome return away from the linear stories of the past Amnesia games. Last but not least, the only thing I have to take 1 star away from the team for is the fact that there are no real puzzles. I miss the difficulty of some puzzle areas like Penumbra had and a few in the original Amnesia. But you guys are on the right path. I loved the game!
Après un dark descent légendaire, un a machine for pigs très oubliable et un rebirth plutôt bof c'est enfin le grand retour d'Amnesia avec beaucoup de bonnes idées. On est à des années lumières de tous ces walking simulator vendus beaucoup trop chers pour leur peu d'intérêt. Très bonne expérience mais deux petits bémols: les allemands parlent allemand et les français parlent anglais. Pourquoi? Quelques glitchs ça et là, notamment un durant la scène finale qui m'a grandement facilité la vie puisque je n'ai pas eu à faire ce que je devais faire après avoir glitché à travers un mur. La série est quand même de retour sur les bons rails et ça fait plaisir!
Amnesia: The Bunker has some of the best horror and level design ever done in this genre, it's worth checking out by any horror fan.
The game also has lots of configuration/accessibility options and plenty of replayability due to traps and items being in different places each time you start a new game.
However, there are a few rough edges that prevent this game to reach the masterpiece level:
- The story is very superficial, which limits the player immersion.
- Player actions don't feel very responsive, as in animations not starting right the hell now and not being able to cancel what you're doing quickly. It's a horror game and the character should be able to drop what they were doing to react to whatever is happening in an instant.
- Guns have too much sway. I had to restart multiple times because I was missing shots on locks at a few meters away. Aiming while standing still for a while should be precise, there's nothing fun about missing shots because of randomness mechanics.
- Storage box has a limited space, yet you can pile items on the ground around it as much as you want. To me this makes not sense, the storage should be endless and sortable, similar to how the newer Resident Evil games work.
- I personally found the game's contrast to be quite low, which makes the game look blurry on my 1080p monitor. Contrast and brightness sliders would have been great additions to the options menu, again similar to how the newer Resident Evil games work.
A lot of these issues could be addressed in a patch. I hope the devs will consider fixing some of these issues in an anniversary patch of sorts, that would be really great.
Amnesia the bunker is very good horror with a lot of unpredictability, first playthrough took me 5 hour. Only negatives i can think off is that ending end way too quick and no achivments.
