Hi, and thanks for reading.

This game along with AoE II has been my favorite one since I first played it all those years back, although now I haven't played it for a couple of years.
Recently I started looking for a way to get my hands on it, and came across GOG.com and bought it here.

Well, now it seems that for some reason the game isn't quite running as it should. The main menu looks off and when I try to move through the options in the menu the old screen just kind of stick and the new one is applied over it. I am able to start a game, although everything is somehow out of place. The resolution seems to be off and the menu in the upper left corner is just mashed into one big pile of letters.

This might be really easy to fix, and I might be missing something obvious here. Atleast I hope so. :)
Attaching images to clarify, as I find this hard to explain.

Hoping that someone will be able to help me!

Thanks in advance,
Septembr

Make sure you run it as admin. This fixed many of the goofy issues I was seeing. Also, this may help as well...

It's set to run as admin as standard - I tried doing it manually but unfortunately I got the same result.

The download links in that thread were either too old or gave me warnings about malware.

I appreciate the help though!
I am still experiencing the same issue.
If anyone would be able to help me I'd appreciate it!

Hej Septembr,

If you experience such an issue you might want to contact the support. GOG guarantee that your games run if the system requirements are met.
What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows 8 then that might be the reason your game doesn't run (The store page shows contradictory information the system requirements state that you have to run it on xp/Vista/7 but more to the top I see it runs on Windows 8)
Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode Windows xp? You could try changing your resolution before running the game.

If nothing else helps you could try to run the game like me. I mainly use Ubuntu Linux and can run the game perfectly through Wine/playonlinux. If you do not use Linux but only Windows this method obviously will mean a lot of hassle and will not exactly be elegant for one game.
However, I think it is always a good idea to consider having a Linux operating system installed.

Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions :)
