Tarnicus: Everyone is playing Divinity: Original Sin :P

I do wonder how many people have given up trying to connect due to the wait times. I know that it is the main reason I haven't gotten back to it. If I could turn off the background music and listen to something else and maybe be notified somehow when a game pops up in the background, you'd see me with this loaded up constantly.

If people were allowed to just start a single player game whilst waiting to connect, I'm sure there would be tons of people playing. Learning a game through multiplayer is a bit daunting for many, myself included.
I haven't been able to get a game started in almost 2 days now. After the update to TR029 I found it hard to find anyone and when I did the game aborted before it could get started 2 or 3 times. Since then I've not been able to even find another player at all and if my machine creates a lobby nobody ever joins.

I've been closing the app, starting it up for an hour or so to really give it a spin and trying over and over to no avail. Game has crashed 3 times on me just trying to connect, but not dumping any logs or anything useful to pass on. I'd love it I could disable the music completely also and have a button on screen "Enable big super loud game start notifcation GONG sound effect". But the game would have to be able to be backgrounded without crashing and it's not stable if you ALT-TAB out apparently so that limits the ability to do other things on the same computer while waiting eons for the chance someone isn't playing Divinity Original Sin as you say. :)

I'm going to keep trying to join a lobby for another 10 minutes or so and then bail for the day and try again tomorrow.

On the upside, the update mechanism both to the game and the client itself went very smooth every time so far so that's nice to see.

Hrm.. I wonder if I can putz around in the game directories and find the music data and replace it with an empty wav/flac/ogg/mp3 file or an AC/DC album or something. I like the music but the same song on autorepeat for 6 days in a row gets a bit tedious. :)
I made it into a game the moment I updated the client and read your message :)
Same issue for me. I've spent really too much time staring at the 'Matchmaking' screen. The lack of option to remove the music and to have a notification is a real pain. It would also be good (=>mandatory) to have the users list in order to ask user x to play with you instead of waiting till the end of time

You already have the users' list - if none joins you in the lobby it means there are no more people free to play with you.
I think a better solution for matchmaking would be to have a general server list which lists room names, capacity, whether its a private game or not (e.g.password protection), ping and region. It gives a better sense of how many people are playing the game, where they are playing from, and overall makes entering a game easier than waiting on a loading screen for a queue to pop.

Shalashaskka: waiting on a loading screen for a queue to pop.
There is no loading screen nor queue in this game.

In lobby you are waiting for ANY other player. There are no other HIDDEN players (waiting like you) nor other lobbies. If ANY other player wants to play in public and you are in lobby he joins you at the very same moment as he presses play button.

But that's what I mean. If you have a server list, you know precisely how many people are in however many rooms, giving you a general sense of the population of the game. If you want to play with 4 players, you can be waiting in your lobby for an immeasurable amount of time because you have no idea if there are any other players queued up for a game. Sometimes people want to play with a specific number of players, and the server list would remedy that.

I do not think server list would be any remedy. The extra thing you will be able to see is just a list of players currently IN game and that is NOT the list of players who will join your lobby.

So you will still not know "how long to wait" for another player as any player could click game icon on the desktop (and join your lobby) at ANY time and he/she will not be visible for you before that moment. :)
I am experiencing this issue since the last update. Is anyone else still experiencing this?
I love GOG and CD Projekt but I am afraid I am unable to get interested in this game.

The reason for that is that I cannot actually get a game, using the matchmaking service I can't seem to get a game and if I have to spend a lot of time and effort to join a game that I haven't even been able to try out as a single player or even a tutorial playthrough, well I have better things to do.

I understand that it is a beta and the player base is probably too small to guarantee finding a game using the matchmaking service but my patience has limits. I will keep trying at intervals to get a game but this is still a major drag.
