I use a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog joystick and throttle, plus CH Rudder Pedals. Does anyone know if any or all of them will be compatible with WC4? I use Windows 7 64-bit.

my saitek cyborg evo isnt working as well.
Hi, I don't think you can setup different joysicks with this game, however one of the extras shows the different button combo's you can use with different sticks.

I have a Saitek 3D gold USB stick and after installing the driver from the CD supplyed the game will except it and all the functions work including the throttle, which did'nt on the old CD version of the game I had with a plug port Thrustmaster. Ofcourse that was a long time ago lol.

One quck question when if flight did you remember to press ALT-O to open the options screen and select joystick? it might seem obvious but you would be supriced at the number of people who don't think of that.

Yes Jolob I tried that. When I press calibrate joystick the screen 'flickers' but nothing happens.
yes, the same for me I can't calibrate eather, inflight or not.

I don't know if this is part of the same problem but when I press ALT-X to exit the game it simply freezes up and I have to minimize to desktop in order to clear it. It might be that moving out of the game for anr reason wont work because the system is not quite set up right for modern operating systems.
making the joystick the default controller in windows solved my problem.
hmm can't get it to work with my X52 or my Logitech extreme 3D pro one (that did work with my original DVD edition...)

how does one access the dosbox configuration for things? tried looking it up but their site just redirects to wikis that redirect to dead links and other wikis for something else that redirects to a different wiki....

Edit: oh and it doesn't do anything if i click the calibrate in flight, and crashes if i try at the ship..

both sticks work in WC1-3 oddly enough (though only the stick.. no throttle..)

Wing Commander 4 doesn't use Dosbox, so sadly we can't fiddle about with the settings that way.

good point.. derp.. still.. any info on that for other titles?

still kinda odd the one stick worked in my original copy and not here though..
WC4 on GOG *IS* a windows game. It uses Directx and therefore if windows recognizes your stick, you should be able to use it in game.

Make sure you go to the game controlers section of the control panel in windows and make sure windows is recognizing your stick and that the stick you want to use is the default controler. Also, for any specific control schemes WC4 will probably not natively recognize your stick and you will need to probably map any more complex functions yourself.

They moved it. Now you have to go to "devices and printers" and you should see your stick listed there and be able to go to its properties. Alternately it's also in the start menu right under control panel.

Question I just got wing commander 4, while it works in windows 8.1 does anybody know if there is a current joystick that can support it?

Any controller will work but support is limited by modern standards; there is no in-game remapping and some actions like throttle and rolling are controlled by holding a button rather than using dedicated axes. You can use the joystick's own configuration program to work around some of these limitations.

The later games in the series have proper throttle/rudder axis support (but still no in-game remapping).
