This new version of GOG's release is not the final version of UP?

PaulMuadDibUsul: This new version of GOG's release is not the final version of UP?
Yes, it is. But I accidentally left some old comment in the cfg file.
avatar
shmerl: What does it mean exactly? I.e. I can create Patch_Extras/Player Mods but what do I put in add_im.vtm there?
avatar
wesp5: That comment is outdated as the connected fix is now part of the default settings.

Also, what is the max value that won't cause problems or anything about 65 fps is buggy?
avatar
wesp5: Higher rates than 65 could get you stuck in doors, but that has been fixed in the meantime. The other problem is with moving physical objects. This is still erratic > 65 but should pose no real issue if you want to try higher frame rates!
I see, thank you!

wesp5: Get it as usual from https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-unofficial-patch

v11.5 25.05.2025

shmerl: Thank you!

Testing it out with GOG's new bundled version

I noticed that framerate by default is now capped at 65 fps and there is this comment in autoexec.cfg

// if you want to increase fps_max use add_im.vtm, see Patch_Extras/Player Mods.

What does it mean exactly? I.e. I can create Patch_Extras/Player Mods but what do I put in add_im.vtm there?

GabrielTal: Is it just the basic patch, or is it the plus patch? And how do we check and change the configuration from one to the other?
avatar
shmerl: I think GOG provides two separate versions, one with basic and one with plus patch. So you'd have two separate installations.

Posted about it here.
So, what is the one that we currently have available in GOG Galaxy? The basic or the plus patch?

It's actually both this time. The basic patch was included already for year, but now you can also select plus!

I'm not using GOG's galaxy client, but lgogdownloader on Linux.

There are two distinct game ids I can install, one will be basic and other plus patch.

Basic: https://www.gogdb.org/product/1207659240#builds
Plus: https://www.gogdb.org/product/1265943179#builds

Not sure how GOG's client presents these. I assume like two distinct games.

Okay, I apologize if this sounds like I am an idiot, but how do I select the version that is used?
What comes up when you search by "Bloodlines"?

Basic one should be called "Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™"
Plus one should be called "Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™ - Unofficial Patch"

You need to "buy" the second one first to have it in your account (it's free):

For the basic one, you just linked the base game, is that just meaning the basic is a part of the base game these days?
And the other is the mod page, so I am guessing the mod IS the plus patch, it just would have been nice if that was just made a little more clear.
Yep, unclear text by GOG even in the news post about mods.

Yes, it's part of it. Except not sure if it's most recent version of the basic patch. According to builds list, it wasn't updated in a while.

It's the game with the plus patch bundled all together. I really see no point to play the game without either basic or plus, so GOG providing both options is good enough.

All if it is a bit confusingly presented though, I agree.

This makes no sense whatsoever. If after patching, the base game has become the basic patch, then how does one play the game without the patch? By uninstalling the patch?

As it is, both instances of the game I have now tell me in their options I'm looking at the Unoffical Patch 11.5. How are we to discern what we're actually looking at?

One-click modding, eh. Hmm....

I think in order to start the game with the patch, you always need to start it like this:

Vampire.exe -game Unofficial_Patch

Which is what GOG launcher probably does according to their Json file?

If you don't use -game Unofficial_Patch I think it should run in "stock" game form? Though I never tried - I simply see no point to not use at least the basic patch.

UPDATE:

I just checked. The basic patch game lists both patched and "legacy" options in their launcher json file (goggame-1207659240.info)

So I think you should see both options somewhere. The difference is like above. One launches Vampire.exe -game Unofficial_Patch and another launches simply Vampire.exe

To sum it up if anyone will be looking into this again:

* To play the game without unofficial patch, use the version with basic patch and legacy option there

* To play it with basic patch, use the version with basic patch (regular option there)

* To play the game with plus patch, use the version called "unofficial patch".

Btw, is there some way to add an extra cfg file with override for fps_max = ..., in order to avoid GOG update wiping out my changes and not blacklisting autoexec.cfg from updates either?

In the worst case I'll just back up autoexec.cfg before any potential update and merge things back.

Just to double check. For the plus patch. I just need to "Buy" the -Unofficial Patch from the new Mod Page and run the game from that?
