lordhoff: What say ye, "Signothorn"? Should I wait or go ahead with 2012?
Absolutely, AoR 2012 was a massive overhaul on Jav's part and we tested it quite a bit before release. There are a few minor bugs here and there, but nothing that prevents you from proceeding through the game or enjoying the game with friends. Other than tinkering with the config app a little and planning, I don't believe he's started on 2014, so you might be waiting a while for 2014. I think he's also hoping his let's play videos gets more people to stop by e-mods.net to give feedback and suggestions on what he should do for AoR 2014, from my conversations with him.

Thanks; had been planning on trying 2012 since he released it but so many unplayed games on my shelf got in the way.
I got it on Dotemu back when it was on there and its REALLY buggy I got a feeling Activision submitted it here and GOG turned them down.

Yeah, but the patches (both of them) have fixed most of the problems and GOG isn't shy on using community patches if they work. .
Is it particularly recommended to play Redemption before Bloodlines?

No; they're not related other then through White Wolf Publishing. The older game is in a "hack and slash" style - lots of fighting and you travel with a coterie. I found Redemption well after Bloodlines and enjoy them both.

Thank you for the reply, I was mostly curious because I kinda wanna get Bloodlines, but didn't know if it was a direct sequel to Redemption or not.

Personally, I felt that Bloodlines (with Wesp's fantastic patch) is a Mass Effect before Mass Effect in terms of general freedom but with much deeper RPG elements. Haven't played Redemption but from what I'm seeing it doesn't quite seem to have what I found appealing in Bloodlines although it does seem like an interesting game.

Nope, the games have completely different story arks and different characters. You owe it to yourself to play Redemption at some point though.
I was about to start up Bloodlines last night and then thought, you know, it's far past time that I've gotten Redemption so I got it last night. Haven't gotten very far, but they are quite different beasts. Amazing that there was only a four-year span between them. Redemption is definitely more old-school, but I think it's safe to say that I'll love it.

Redemption does have its charm to it especially for those who can make the game work on their computer. But a couple of other things people can think about is that 1) Redemption has far more variable mods than Bloodlines (that even includes whole new quests, items, and enemies) and 2) A working multiplayer though you have to use a VPN client these days like tunngle to get that to work.

I can actually tell that a lot of modders for Bloodlines are reaching an impasse on what more they can do with that game. Much of the Bloodlines community is hoping for the completion of the Project Valderie that will port Bloodlines to the Unity engine. On the other hand it looks like modders for Redemption have just started up on whole new content again for the original game. You can check it out here:

Among that website's content, I would highly recommend the Age of Redemption mod as it does some awesome things to the single player game which includes improving the AI, fixing several bugs, modifying some quests, and adding new disciplines like Obtenebration, Movement of the Mind, and Quietus.
