Sufyan: The beheading is "censored" in this release, but honestly that is a massive improvement over the ridiculous original cutscene that had no cinematic sense of timing and impact. The beheading happening off screen, showing only the crowd reacting, is far more impactful and cinematic.
I agree...it's not "censorship" at all, it's called "editing"...;) Imagining the beheading as opposed to seeing the corny version of it that they decided to edit out is far more interesting and has a far greater impact. I sometimes wonder if the people who confuse editing with censorship would ever go see a movie, because all of them are edited...;)

0Grapher: Besides: As far as I know, Steam sells a censored version of the game to Germans. If you want an uncensored version you should buy the game here or buy a second-hand retail copy. If you care about German text, you could buy a retail copy and download the semi-(/un-)official patch yourself [Oops, the "uncensored" retail copy also differs slightly from the original].

Trid: AFAIK the UP is "fixing" the german censore (or it should at least). Also, I'm not 100% sure right now but, the only thing that was censored in german version is decapitation scene in the 1st cutscene... but there is many myths about different version (US retail vs rest) so who knows...
De-capitation was edited from the British version due to UK law. Didn't know that about the German version as I don't understand German.

Most importantly, it ensures compatibility with current Windows versions and the 1.2 version can be restored both with the compatibility fixes and apparently without them.

The decapitaion was edited in all versions as far as I know. I already tried to restore it in the patch, but just today I managed to improve this a lot :)!

Now I'm going to have to load it up again and check - could have sworn it shows it but -- I have a notoriously bad memory and just reading that it had happened somewhere would be enough to confuse me. It never really made sense why it would be edited from just one version, though - so much easier to do it for all I would think.

Can I assume the next patch will incorporate this improvement?

Yes. The current patch already shows more than the international version but it will be better soon...

The uncut version shown there is pretty much exactly what you see when you install the UP 9.6! Which I hope will sooner or latter end up as the base for the GOG version anyway...

awesome work what you did with your patches. you know if or when GOG will add your newest version?
did you or anyone else know something about the german version of this game on GOG?

I'll wait until 9.6 final is out then I will offer it to GOG.

I know that a translation of the latest patch is in the works, but I don't think it will end up on GOG...
