Or you could not bother with all this rigmarole at all and just use a better media player than WMP.

Many of them have a plugin for tracker formats.
True. Foober2000 is an opensource program with tons of plugins. And if you can't find what you need, due to the available source files you can create your own plugin for that.

Correction: FB2K is not open source, at least not in the traditional sense. But otherwise, the openmpt component should work.
Not exactly open source but the development kit is freely available.
Anything incorporating libmodplug should be able to play most UMX files perfectly. VLC can do it, for example.

CodAv: For the sake of completeness, here is a list of the whole Unreal Soundtrack (main game only) with direct links to ModArchive:

Thanks for the tracklists. I wasn’t sure what order to put them in.

Also, if anyone was wondering/cares, the ModArchive .it and .s3m files are bit-for-bit identical to the .umx files found in “<path-to-game>\Music”. I only used them to double check the order due to different track names.

I use VLC for anything that WMP can’t play. The reason to convert tracker to linear PCM is a sake of convenience. Most portable media players don’t support tracker formats (or midi, for that matter).

Well, that's a problem between them and their firmware,
apps,
other apps,
and so on. (Sorry if you use a poisoned Apple, I have no idea what the prospects are like.)

I do have the Unreal Anthology box which includes an Unreal 1 soundtrack CD, but it doesn't include every single music track unfortunately. I wanted the chant music with the heart beating like sound effect specifically, but it's not even included on the CD.

I will try and see if VLC can play the music files from the game installation like someone mentioned previously.

KMPlayer can play umx without issues.
https://audacious-media-player.org/ also plays UMX natively, without any other configuration needed.

Just load the UMX files from Unreal Gold's music folder and you're good to go.
