Tropico 6 is released globally via GoG today for Windows PC and MacOS, with Linux coming slightly later

The wait is finally over, the borders are open and El Presidente welcomes you to visit the island paradise of Tropico.
Kalypso Media and Limbic Entertainment are thrilled to announce that Tropico 6, the latest instalment in the critically acclaimed Tropico franchise, launches today globally for Windows PC, and MacOS on GoG. Linux will also be added slightly later.

With Penultimo busy grooming prize llama Hector for the Presidential parade to celebrate Tropico 6’s glorious launch, the loyal citizens over at Kalypso HQ have been busily editing El Presidente’s welcome trailer for your enjoyment.

So click on the YouTube-link below and take a sun-drenched trip along Tropico’s beautiful sandy beaches and almost dormant volcanos (there’s only a 65% chance of an eruption in the coming weeks) by clicking on the links below:

El Presidente is back!
In times of political turmoil and social unrest, the people are calling out for a visionary leader, one who will steer the fate of their country with foresight and ingenuity. Prove yourself once again as a feared dictator or peace-loving statesman on the island state of Tropico and shape the fate of your nation through four distinctive eras. Face new challenges on the international stage and always keep the needs of your people in mind.

For the first time in the series, manage extensive archipelagos, build bridges to connect your islands and use new means of transportation and infrastructure. Send your Tropicans on raids to steal the wonders of the world, including the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Customize your palace at will and give election speeches from your balcony, to win the favor of your subjects.

Another great news, citizens of Tropico!
Even though Multiplayer Cross play (with e.g. Steam) is not yet in the game, be aware that it will be implemented soon.
Therefore, fellow Tropicans, stay tuned!

Known Issue (GoG)
- Achievements for the MacOS-version are currently not working properly at the moment.
-> El Prez is aware of this and Penultimo already received the order to get this working as intended as soon as possible!

Please clarify whether there will be support for the Russian language in this game in the GOG version? In the Steam version, the game is fully translated into Russian. Please answer.
Does the GOG version have the Kalypso Launcher?
Hi there,
@mimikril
Only Eglish, French, Italian, German and Spanish will be in the GoG version.

@Valdasaar
No, the GoG-version has no Kalypso Launcher.

Great
Thank you for the GOG release
Nice that election speeches are back - they always were a highlight.

What about the simulation of the citizens? Still dumbed down as in the last installment or do they actually have to go to places beyond work to be serviced?

What about physical incidents? Do you still have those rts elements as in the last installment?

What about path finding? Do Tropicans still take traffic jams as an invitation to waste some time?
So first off, thanks for coming to GOG, the Tropico series has been a great staple in my lineup for a long time with the death of physical drm free releases you've made me most happy.

...I was however one of the many burned by the Tropico 5 Audio bug and now have an effective bricked game in my account, so can we confirm that the audio system has been reworked and we're not going to see a repeat of that?
Super excited to see this coming to Linux!

This is "great".
How about fixing the Tropico 5 crash after a few seconds problem first?
https://www.gog.com/forum/tropico_series/warning_tropico_5_crash_on_startup/page4
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-EA-Games/Tropico-5-crashes-on-start/td-p/7892058
etc etc - use your favourite search engine.

The solutions with Xaudio2_7.dll or stopping windows sound service are insane, you need to fix Tropico 5 before releasing tropico 6...

I was just about to get Tropico 6, but then I wanted to play Tropico 5 first, installed it fresh from GOG, and then this? Nonono...
Momentchen mal, ihr seid ja deutsch!
Macht mal hinne Tropico 5 zu fixen, sonst fahre ich bei euch vorbei und besuche eure QA Abteilung...
another double dipper release.

why not just drop this here back in 2019?

It's the same as any standard, versus deluxe release of a game. If you want ALL the extra stuff, you buy the deluxe version. Things have been that way for DECADES, going back to the days of physical only game releases. So it's not like its somehow some new money grabbing idea.

As for the El Prez Edition, personally, I'd have liked to have seen The Llama Of Wall $treet bundled as part of the El Prez Edition.
Hi there,

Love this games and would love to buy this one and DLC, but I have a question...

Have this bugs been fixed ?

There's two major oversights that appear to be in the coding of the game that can cause your economy to completely spiral. If you ever wondered why you suddenly stopped getting income from your ports and why the economy in the game doesn't appear steady this thread explains why. I discovered these under Seguridad Social but I believe they have been in the game since Beta and complained about numerous times leading to upset players.

1) Clinic and other fun, religious, etc. type buildings.

It's possible for a clinic worker(s) to go into their own building seeking healthcare. If both workers go into their own clinic this effectively locks down not only the workers but everyone in the clinic. So now your workers from farms, ranches, teamsters etc won't be able to work. This same effect happens to a lesser effect on buildings with more slots available but it's still possible for the entire building to get locked up. A church having one nun visiting her own church effectively locks up ~8 visitor slots and then the people visiting just have to wait. I've had churches with up to two nuns visiting their own church making the building effectively a money sink and useless. Since the building itself is always the closest building they will visit it as long as their are visiting slots available.

Normally, by the time you notice this your gameplay is ruined even if you have prior save files because the problem just occurs again.

2) Damage to buildings from fire, volcano, scenarios, hard settings etc

Teamsters and workers:

If a teamster or worker was in the queue to visit (construct or pick-up/deliver) to a building and this building becomes damaged even after repairing it whatever the teamster or worker was doing gets stuck in the game queue. No other worker or teamster will ever go again to the building that was the target.

In the case of #2 loading the game fixes this because the game rebuilds the queue of jobs to do.
I had to ask for a refund last month from Steam as it kept crashing when I try to load the game. Is the bug fixed? I am super excited to play this game and have always loved the Tropico series but will not be buying until it has been fixed.
