pwny_express: Best personal guess:
They're holding out on GOG because they know that there's a chance that someone buying it from here will upload it to less-savory locations (ie: tpb) and they want to make sales before they "lose sales" to "pirates".
Its not a
great reason for doing so, and may just encourage whoever doesn't buy it day-one on a guarded platform to swipe it anyway, so honestly its rather redundant.
Do agree that they should have just stated from the start that they were holding back. Not saying that I'll be sailing the digital high seas for this release, but I'm not ruling out the possibility either; this has been a pretty shite move on their part (and if I had to guess I'd say it was the publisher's decision because they're usually the ones who make these scumbag last-second BS decisions), and I might just hold back until it goes on deep discount because I have no reason not to.
That might be the case, but pirates will pirate it either way. They won't buy any game, unless it is an online game. Pirated copies of most PC games exists from release day, unless the game is niche or an online-only game,
Either way, I won't pirate it and plan on waiting until the release of the game on GOG. I also get the benefit of getting help online easier if I get stuck on certain parts of the game.
