+1 for fixing this awesome game! It's really hard to play it like this. =/
Good to know. Won't purchase it, if so many have the same problem.

Buy it now - it's on sale! Problems will be solved soon, I hope.

Sooooooooooooooo yeah, how's that little bird going? Still broken for me ATM.
I'm currently not at home but it may help to set the cpu type in the .conf to dynamic and adding more virtual RAM. GOG sets the specs for the dos enviroment pretty low by default.

Good question :-) I'll send an e-mail to the bird with a small reminder.
I'm getting the sluggish performance just starting the first hospital with very little happening...

i had this as well when I first started, but I noticed if you set the graphics to Opengl, it works a lot better.

Performance still needs to be tweaked for the game though
Hi Folks!

I've got an official reply from GOG's team, that they're still investigating the issue and testing probable solutions.

We have to be little more patient. And I assure You, that they haven't forgotten us ;-)

Greetz!
It is the same for me. The performance is so slow unless I put it on the low-res setting, which makes it look ridiculous. I can run games on this PC from Baldur's Gate up through Diablo 3... I'm not sure why I can't adequately run this one, but it makes it unplayable. Very unfortunate. I was so looking forward to playing this game.
I went into the game folder and did the following.

Right click "Launch Graphic Mode Setup" and choose "Run as administrator"

In the basic settings turn off full screen

In the advanced settings Set your window res to what you want.

Click save settings and then click start game.

This is working fine for me on windows 8 32 bit. It seems that running in full screen is causing the problem here.
That windowed mode works perfectly!

Thanks,

crabby
I've also got the same type of problems running it with the Boxer version setup for Mac's. One problem that I haven't seen mentioned here is cursor artifacts, which can be 'swept' away with another stroke over the same area. They're uncommon, but a sign of glitchiness, nonetheless. I also noticed that when changing speed settings that it seemed like the default speed of the speed setting would be altered when you go back to it. And yes, the chugginess of the game makes it quite impossible to click on your target at higher speed settings.

Thanks! That has worked great on my (dare I say it) Windows Vista laptop! :)
A little update. Finally I've managed to solve it. Instead of running TH with my default graphics card, I ran it with an integrated graphics card, Intel HD 4000 and it works great! :-)

I know that it's not an universal solution, but on modern laptops it's worth a try. After almost 2 years I'm finally able to fully enjoy TH :-)
