So let me start by saying that I really like that the developers added some wolf school gear into the game however my problem is that it's absolutly useless up to 3/4 of the game. I didn't finish the game yet but since I've done everything in Velen and Novigard and at this point roaming in Skellige which is the 3 area I really don't see any reason bothering with the wolf gear which is unlockable only if you arrive in Kaer Morhen, the last area.

I like to take my time with the game but I also like unique things which the witcher gear somehow represents. Got the griffin, cat and the ursine witcher gear whereas ursine is my favourite one and I would really like to get the wolf school gear but that would mean rushing trough the main story just to get to the specific location. Not going to happen. I'm also confused by the level requirements for the armor. At the time you arrive in Kaer Mohren you'd be at least level 20 whereas the wolf school gear requires you 14.You don't have this problem with the others witcher sets, except for ursine witcher gear maybe. But it's easily obtainable after you arrive in Velen if you have enough coin.

What I would like to see is simple. Just remove the Kaer Mohren requirement.

It is NOT Kaer Mohren, but Kaer Muire.
On Skellige Islands.
That's interesting because the quest marker sends me right to Kaer Mohren.
Edit: Ignore me.

... me, too (ignore).

But: parts of the gear you are after can be found in the area of Kaer Muire. Been there, done it.

Again, ignore - please :)

EDIT: while ignoring me I like to point out that I do not have the quest, I simply found the things by roaming around on skellige.

I'm going to quietly walk away and hope no one notices I made the mistake of reading the name of the destination too quickly and was trying to head to Kaer Morhen... tiptoe tiptoe tiptoe...
The poster is right the basic wolf gear that is level 14 is in Kaer Mohren thats where the marker is on my map but no fast trave points to get there so to unlock the area need to follow story line and by the time you get there that armor is pretty useless anyway probably by then even the next version is no good.

They ither should have put a fast travel points to get there and do the quest or move from there all toghetor.

Still love the game but a little disappointed about this wolf gear and cant get it because of the storyu line.
I find that the general problem with the green items is that the only reasons to be after them are "nostalgic" ones.
Using the Relic type of gear will let you deal far more damage/protect you a lot more then the witcher items.

And, releasing another type of witcher items at a point where most people are far into the game (and thus already have enough high class gear) is not very smart - it's simply so late in the game that it is not needed (except for the above mentioned reasons).

Using Master crafted Ursine armor and weapons it is possible to score over 4,000 points of damage with a single sword swing (normal + critical damage). Please tell me which relic gear will let a level 33 Geralt do better.

I do agree with Gurke.836 they could have put a little thought behind were all the witcher armor and weapons are located. I am not talking about just the new Wolf set but also the other sets. For example, the first set of diagrams Geralt found when he had just arrived in Velen (and was level 4) were the superior urisine armor diagrams.
From what I've heared so far is that you collect the ehanced, superior, mastercrafted blueprints in Velen and Skellige. So basically you're holded back by the standart wolf school gear which is only obtainable by the end of the game. To be honest it wouldn't be a problem if there was a new game plus option but there isn't one, so collecting it just for few final quests is pure waste of time. At least that's how I see it.

Edit: To clarify things.

so basically what you guys are saying is, if you sold the gear at the beginning like all of us did not realizing you need it to craft upgrades, you cant get any of the diagrams until you go to kaer mohrn or whatever???

good thinking cdpr --- NOT.
Yeah, that bugged me. I sold my Kaer Morhen armour right at the beginning, because I got something immediately that was better, completely unaware that it would be needed later if I wanted to upgrade. However, live and learn. The next play-through will be different.
In all honesty the most screwed up part about this is that if you happen to be far along in the game, you've probably already been in and searched the areas they've put the diagrams. So, now I have to re-scour this massive map top to bottom? No way I was doing that, I took the easy way out :/

No no no, not this starting gear. What I meant was that you have to collect the blueprints in Kaer Mohren first, to be able to forge the standart wolf school gear which will be no matter what underpowered. It doesn't have to do anything with the starting gear in the beginning of the game.

But the other part is correct, you can't do anything with the wolf school gear until you reach Kaer Mohren at least once.

I am a little confused by everyone's issue with the wolf gear. Yeah, you need to advance past level 14 for the base gear, but that is what it is, base gear. It can be upgraded just like all the other witcher sets which goes up to level 30. So right now I have enhanced wolf, am at level 25 and so I have 5 levels until I bother to go treasure hunt for the last set.

I would view the lowest wolf set as a prerequisite for the higher upgrade sets.

I wish the starter set was upgradeable, I sold it very early thinking I could buy more later on.
Best looking armor in the game, huge mistake of CDPR to so blatantly tempt you in discarding it in favor of all the other, more powerful junk shirts and ugly cuirasses.

On my next playthough I plan to keep that first set so that I can look extremely cool while I am getting my ass handed to me on the hardest difficulty!

Here is wishing that the starter set comes back to us as another DLC!
