Hickory: Your words:
"what he said about SteamOS doesn't look honest at all."
" i think he wasn't honest and used "diplomatic" speech on his second statement"

Translation in English: "He's lying."
to know, understand and use diplomatic language when recorded is part of the CEO job description.
so i see nothing offensive in me basicly stating he was doing PR part of his job.
and yes hiding the truth behind words can be considered a lie.
but you either absolutist or just read what you want to read and make up stuff that wasn't meant.
you accused me of the later yourself.
and for the former - well if we take it to absolutes then yes he's a lier as we all are...

You're making things up as you go to suit your responses. I'm done with you.

my apologies to anyone offended and to others for pointless flood.

yet my opinion remain the same - your quote is nonsensical.
Lol, Witcher 3 should join Witcher 2 and the 4000+ games on Steam for Linux. They should at least WINE wrap it if they don't want to release a native version. For Witcher 4 if there is one, they should be moving to Vulkan and other cross-platform tools so they can release for all platforms. Thousands of other developers, big and small, can do it, so they can too. No Tux No Bux. :3

shishimaru1000: Let's hope it'll be a good port. Witcher 3 on Windows runs better than Witcher 2 on Linux for me. Virtualization kills performance.
avatar
madscientist_42: Not as bad as one would think. I manage it well on WINE- but then, I've got this brutally powerful machine, whether you're talking my Desktop or Laptop. I see roughly the same performance in WINE as I do on Windows. I think the problem's more the solution they used when they should've looked into working with Codeweavers if they weren't going to do a direct port. At least the Windows version works well enough for me to have played most of it courtesy of a gift to me from family.

mmarci: It has been confirmed they will communicate a release date for the Linux version soon. What I don't understand is why do you buy games on a platform that clearly states Windows only for system requirements?

EDIT: clarity

madscientist_42: I'm...unsure...of that myself. Seems counterproductive. Only reason I have Witcher 1 & 2 is because of a gift from a family member due to their understanding I can make almost anything Windows run under Linux in VirtualBox or WINE and thought the challenge of getting them going was as much the present as the game.

Since I do Game Ports...it really does strike me as being counterproductive unless I'm porting the title in question or helping the studio do the work.
When will the 3rd witcher work in some way on a Linux MINT machine?
Maybe LInux will be in the big update soon that has ray tracing.

Would love that, but can't see it happening. CDPR hates Linux, and has made no secret of it through their actions.
