If you don't install using Galaxy or steam (i.e. using GOG's installer) you get bad files and bugs not present in the Steam/Galaxy version. Many days have passed and they still don't offer any solution.

Galaxy was/is optional as they stated, but actually they give no alternative if you want to install a "semi-working" version of this game.

So basically they (CDProject/GOG) "enforce" the install thru a platform which requires authentication.

I preordered this game and every DLC. Last time I do that way.

PS. After deleting the ofending files in patch0 folders I still get wrong text descriptions for some skills in the general tab, the ones added by the DLC to be more precise.

I preordered, did not use Galaxy, purchased here at GOG, used the GOG downloader, got a more then 98% working game after installation.

Now - if I would do the same as you (making up that my situation equals the majority of the installed games), my next question for you might be something like : "... and what did you do to your installation to get only a 50% (semi-working) game out of your effords?".

Nothing more to add.

I cannot second this as well. Being an early adopter who is still running the game with the first install (patched to current level of course) I would have had those bugs too as I never used Galaxy or the GoG downloader just the installs from this very site...

Please provide the md5sums of the installer and its bin files which you deem "uncomplete/buggy" I have saved every released installer and kept track of their md5sums....
I preordered Witcher 3 a year prior to it's release. On release, I downloaded all the install files and the activation patch. I have never used Galaxy.

I have downloaded all the DLC's, patches and expansions from my account as they were released - in the same manner.

I don't use Galaxy as I like to play disconnected from the Internet on my gaming PC, and I don't care about "Acheivements"

I have not had any problems/game-breaking bugs/issues in any of my playthroughs. Have there been glitches? Sure - which have been resolved in patches. The biggest issue I had when first starting the game was the lack of a Storage bin - which they patched in soon after.

So, no - the sky is not falling and there is absolutely no reason to use Galaxy unless you desire to.
I assume nobody here paid a visit to Witcher 3 tech support official forums, so you have not seen the high amount of issues reported. So you deny basic gameplay problems continuosly reported, nice. If you ain't gonna help shed light over the issues your collaboration is not required. Thanks but no thanks.

I'll put a link here just in case someone wants to check the truth about the miriad bugs this game still suffers after several patches one year after release. May be a bunch of you are not even aware of them....

CDProject's Official Witcher 3 PC Tech support forum: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/forums/180-PC

(You'd only have to read 263 pages worth of bugs/issues threads, wait, exactly 5258 bugs threads right now)

So yes, basically I'm a whinner/hater who loves to lose time ranting about unexisting issues, you're right.

Just because there is a bug thread doesn't mean that it signifies a bug.

Yes, I have been in the main forum. And if you have - you will find that most of the game-breaking bugs reported ended up being user error of some fashion - configuration or update problems. (or Galaxy, I might add...)

Now, - are there minor - not game-breaking bugs? To be sure. But why posters would run on and on for dozens of pages screaming about how the mutagen icon didn't update to the new version, is beyond me. I'd rather play the game.

To each his own.

Well you're right about one thing (and *only* one thing) at least.

Witcher 3 is buggy, true, but those bugs are both in Galaxy and non-Galaxy version
Seems the "Mutagen icon not updating to the latest version" bug is solely on PC without Galaxy. Why people would waste so much time bitching about a bloody icon is nutz. Myself - I kinda liked the old version better, anyway.

I don't use Galaxy (never have) and it updates just fine for me. I still maintain that 99.5% of the issues, especially the graphical ones, are caused by faulty installations and/or mods.

I don't what?
if you follow the threads over at cdpr forum you know what you do in order to get the things sorted, theres still no need for galaxy. i did delete the affected files and have the generic ability descriptions working as intended.

I agree that there's an issue with release management on gog. But maybe its a limitation of the gog installer which is not able to remove existing junk files.

I wish they would at least provide the checksums for files offered for download so one could check against local installers.

GOG's Galaxy is perfectly able to delete any file in game folder, thinking otherwise is very naive.

Please, read this thread: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/100611-GOG-vs-GOG-Galaxy-files-(missing-something-)

Yes. It is. GOG patcher for Witcher 3 didn't tho. And what is slightly insane is thinking that because GOG staff made a single mistake while creating a patcher for W3, it automatically means that they're implementing some new form of DRM.
