VoodooEconomist: Also, we apologize for our overzelous bretheren if they stepped out of line on the Steam forums.
Except that there wasn't nothing overzealous on the Steam forums just one guy posting reasons why you should buy on GOG, several people agreeing and the OP telling how the topic was "inappropriate" and that if he were a mod he would have closed the topic. That's when people got mad.

Thiev: Huh. Apparently I have different definition of spamming then. Like the one Voodoo posted.
calling me old? :P
That's my definition too but nothing like that happened at the Steam forums and I don't think that the thread I linked are spam either. I just posted those threads as an example of threads here that promote Steam and how nobody took ofense to that.

I did say if. I consider it not my place to judge. If the OP felt that way, I am genuinely sorry to hear that. I cannot do anything about it though, but I can convince him there are also nice, sensible people in the GoG community, by being nice and sensible :-)

Also if I'm calling anyone old, it's myself. And not old-old, I mean gamer-old. Old as in ""I remember when saying Kerrigan gets infested was a huuuuge spoiler!".

I still remember what IDDQD, IDKFA and cockadoodledoo is. I guess that is pretty old ;-)
Ah I did not know GoG and CD Projekt were owned by the same company.

I am even more glad I got the GoG version now. Typically I don't shun away from... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH if you know what I mean. The Witcher, being a SP only game is the prime candidate for such machinations.

But due to principles alone I bought both the first and the 2nd Witcher. I always support immersive, complex and quality PC games.
I bought the first Witcher last week and am trying to finish it before Witcher 2 comes out.....I am 34 hours in and on chapter 3! This game is IMMENSE! I don't think I'll get to start TW2 on Tues...but I'm really enjoying TW1 so I'm not disappointed at all.

I really hope a LOT of people buy both games so there will be more in the series and more awesome games from CDP...which seems to be the only company that really cares about quality gaming nowadays!

Bought Portal 2 (4 hours to beat) and Crysis (11 hours to beat) and was very disappointed at how incredible short and lacking in any kind of depth they were! If Witcher 2 is half as good as the first it will be GOTY!

Thiev: You can start any topic you wish, provided you're willing to start a discussion not just flame war of some kind. There are a lot of threads on GOG about Steam.

I'm sorry, but are you actually holding GOG Team members responsible for users' actions? While I can personally agree that fanboyism is irritating in any shape or form, why are you bringing devs to that?
avatar
gentlefury: Not holding GoG responsible in any way...just the fanboys that are spamming Steam Forum. I don't think it is appropriate in any way. Just as it would be inappropriate to spam steam here.
If I were to sign up for Steam I would spam-post about all CD-RW and DVD-RW RAM and ROM that their fraking SecuROM has broken for me with Neverwinter Night 2 alone with their fraking ROOTKIT!

Gotta be a sucker to have SecuROM anywhere near your system!
Nobody is saying it is apporpiate. We do not advocate spam here, also I'm not sure what GOG can do... maybe the Steam forums need better moderation.
I can’t think of any reason where spam would be appropriate.

Of course. Wolf3D FTW :P
And ancient sounds more dignified than old anyway.
While spamming anything is wrong I can see why people would be passionate about wanting the GOG version to be the top selling version of The Witcher 2. It not only makes a statement about being DRM free, but it also means more profit for the people who actually made the game.
I bought it here just to support the dev, normally I would have saved my precious little money for a sale but I felt this game deserved it especially when I know where my money is going. I even bought number 1 here again (I have a disc version of the original, I wanted to play it again but didn't want to go through the huge hassle of patching that I had to go through last time, so I got it here ^_^ )
