Would it be inappropriate on this forum to start a thread saying you should buy this game on Steam and not GoG.com?

I'm not saying that is the case, but there is a big movement on the Steam forum to constantly spam the forum saying to buy on GoG instead...I see the benefit...but is it appropriate...I would especially like to hear from a GoG mod or staff of some kind. Would you like to see people spamming this forum about Steam, blatantly saying, you should buy this on Steam instead.

I would think the thread would get deleted and the user warned....that's what I would do on my forums.

Thanks!

Oh BTW, thanks for bringing such kick ass classics to modern pcs! Any chance of adding Mac Support in the future?

If there were compelling reasons, I'd say so...but the fact is, the devs get more support by buying on GOG. If they got more support by buying on steam, i'm sure people would be spamming to buy on steam.
I introduce you to the Gaming deals thread: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gaming_deals_thread/page1

There we talk about deals on every digital store whe find. I have even recommended and bought several games from GamersGate that are being offered on GOG too and nobody harrased me (Aquanox, Flatout, UFO Aftermath, etc).

You should have linked the Steam discussion though, which I checked just out of curiosity.

You can start any topic you wish, provided you're willing to start a discussion not just flame war of some kind. There are a lot of threads on GOG about Steam.

I'm sorry, but are you actually holding GOG Team members responsible for users' actions? While I can personally agree that fanboyism is irritating in any shape or form, why are you bringing devs to that?
How exactly do devs get more support by us buying it on GoG? Do they get a larger % of the sales?

That's only one. Which really makes no sense since its thanking GoG on Steam...which is a little odd to me. This is more what I'm referring to:

The dev studio that made TW2 (CD Projekt Red) is owned by the same company that GOG.
they get a 100% of the sales because GOG is owned by CDP
Edit: ninja'd twice ;)

Not holding GoG responsible in any way...just the fanboys that are spamming Steam Forum. I don't think it is appropriate in any way. Just as it would be inappropriate to spam steam here.

I would even risk a statement that such spamming would be inappropriate anywhere. ;)

Say what?

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/steams_2010_christmas_sale
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/steams_thanksgiving_sale

There were threads like this for every big Steam sale. Also for GamersGate and Direct2Drive.
-Fannboyish spamming - bad manners, no mather where.
-Pointing out better deals and discussing them - should be encouraged.

This community we have here is surprisingly well-behaved for what little moderation there is. It might be that the games appeal to an older demographic, bu that's just guessing. So, if you want to discuss anything about Stem or other offers here, feel free to do so! Also, we apologize for our overzelous bretheren if they stepped out of line on the Steam forums.

Again, welcome and have fun!

PS Piece of advice - don't try to convince anyone Steam is not DRM or something like that it's basically the thing so many people here are passionate about it could potentially launch a small thermonuclear flamewar.

Huh. Apparently I have different definition of spamming then. Like the one Voodoo posted.
