svi: i did some experimenting, and was able to transfer 900k to the witcher 2 through using the save game editor for the witcher 1 -,-.

gold doesn't seem to transfer at a 1 to 1 ratio.
if you had under 100,000 gold you seem to have under 1000 gold in tw2.

if you put it to 999,999 gold you seem to have over 10,000 gold in tw2.

i honestly cant see any point to the save-game import... it was a wasted pointless exercise. nothing useful gets transferred across - i got a gimped aerondight, and my raven armor - 315 gold and no stat points, no steel sword, nothing else. i mean really, why did cdp bother at all? apparently nothing you did in the last game even REALLY matters that much in the game, so it seems the save-game import is incredibly shallow and irrelevant.

im NOT saying that using a save import should give you all your gold, or give you overpowered gear or anything... but no steel sword? (g'valchir), 315 gold? jeez i made MORE than that just by looting gear from the prologue... no skill points? not even one or 2 to give me a tiny headstart? a silver sword and some armor that will likely be replaced an hour or 2 into the first chapter? what was the point of it all, its all so empty and insignificant.

oh, sure, someone may say 'hello i remember you, and i remember you did 'X', but meh.. so pointless. bioware seems to be getting worse and worse in the games they make, but this is one thing i wish cdp HAD copied from them. atleast it felt like i was carrying over MY character in ME2... witcher 2 feels like im starting again from scratch... im not playing my geralt, im playing cdps default geralt, which really is quite a pity if they were hoping to create a sense of continuity and atmosphere.

I imported with the Moonblade and the (shockingly average!) Raven armour, a little cash, and no stats. Since I chose the neutral option in Vizima the Squirrels don't seem too keen on me, although I sided with them earlier in my playthrough of W1. One thing I think was transfered was book knowledge: I have 3/3 on all the creatures in my journal, which leapfrogs some of the "fight monsters till you know more about them" type challenges.

Edit: I should also say that I did everything in W1.

it seems like the main idea behind save imports was that your actions in the first game would transfer over.

CDPR is big on the consistency of their dynamic game play after all.

yeah, i know. i gave myself 87 million in the witcher 1, using the save game editor. got nearly 900k in the witcher 2 with it. i was testing the gold transfer oO.

btw did anyone really get stat points from the transfer? if so, what level were you in the witcher 1?

Is there a chance that CDP will clarify all this and how the save import works???
Maybe when their forums go up.
How relevant are your choices as to siding with the order/squirrels/neutral in the witcher 1 when you transfer to witcher 2? Does it make a big difference to the story?
