Daliz: Ehh.. anyone else have the configurator in french?

Edit. And there's no english in the language menu?
avatar
shmerl: Did you download the French tarball by chance? You chose the language before downloading. With lgogdownloader there is also a language switch.

By the way, thanks GOG for added the latest patch as a separate download!
I don't know.. the filename is the same. I've never even changed the language in the shelf and english is probably always default. The website might have glitched or something. I have a decent connection so I'll just redownload to make sure.

I think the name of tarball wouldn't change depending on the language.

I didn't look into it, but the difference might be simply in some config files, so may be there is no need to redownload the whole thing (since all languages are included usually inside the tarball at the same time). Just look around the installation directory.

Man, this thread is making the death of my video card hurt a little more. Glad it's working at least on par with Wine now.

Hope you'll get your new card soon :) So far this version is running close to Wine + CSMT performance. Also that bug with black spots (which happens in Wine) is not there which makes it much nicer.

Redownloaded the whole thing + patch and now it is in english.

Previously I got the "eON failed to initialize" message without patch, and with patch it crashed (SIGSEGV).

Now after redownloading (also deleted the whole ~/.local/share/cdprojektred folder) and (GOG-)patching, it still does not start but I don't get any error message. The screen flashes black and then back to desktop. Sounds like a graphics driver problem, which isn't surprising since I'm using AMD.

Sure ain't easy for me this time lol.

Are you using Catalyst or open radeon driver? With Catalyst you need the very latest one I think. Same thing with the open one really. In any case you can report your results to the community bug tracker. There is a log of the last run in $HOME/.local/share/cdprojektred/witcher2/eon.txt which you can provide with the bug report. You can also take a look there yourself, it might provide some hint about what went wrong.

Catalyst, latest "stable". I didn't know about the eon.txt, I'll take a look in there, thanks. And post @github if I can't get it to work.

You should use 14.6 as it is the latest beta Catalyst driver.
Awesome! About 20 GB in a single file and not bundled libraries.
I noticed that in GOG's version of the latest patch they removed "Linux Release Notes.txt" which provided some useful details from VirtualPrograming. Why is that?
I can see that they have released a patch on GOG for witcher 2. How should it be applied? Just unpack it in the witcher directory?

It'd be nice to have some instructions, yeah?

Having applied the patch I'll tell you: just unpack it almost anywhere except your witcher directory because there's a start.sh file inside and you don't want to overwrite your game start.sh. Run the patch start.sh file. It will ask you to select your witcher directory and then it will apply the patch. Easy.

I have to say this looks and runs amazing, running on an HD6670 under Mint. Way better than my A8 apu under Windows. Thanks so much for this!

You should only update the VP specific files (from the "content" directory). Don't overwrite anything else like start.sh and other GOG related files as iwaloa said above.
Confirming the error with libcurl3 on arch

[xavier@xavier-pc the_witcher_2_linux]$ ./witcher2: /usr/lib32/libcurl.so.4: version `CURL_OPENSSL_3' not found (required by ./witcher2)

Would be great if the depencency can be updated in an upcoming patch. This is likely to affect multiple distributions.

It depends in libcurl3, and arch is using libcurl4 probably. See https://github.com/KillaW0lf04/The-Witcher-2-Issues/issues/30

You'll have to build libcurl3 yourself.
