coastie65: Are you kidding ? I've seen some pretty long contrails from those things. I think I have a commercial flight path directly over the house.

ArnoldJ.Rimmer: thats what i said, the game one is short, very short.

and when did you see plane trails at night ? ;)
I have seen them at about that length. I think it depends on the temp at that altitude. The colder it is up there, the longer the contrail. As for seeing them at night, I guess it is possible at the right time. The sun would have to be far enough below the horizon for it to be nearly dark but still in a position when the rays would still reflect off of the contrails, which would also depend on the altitude at which the plane is flying. I have seen this with clouds. Kind of weird.

chaosapiant: I actually posted about this a few days ago. It's also in act III, and more visible. My theory is that it's the same "red comet" that you can see in the sky during the act II battlefield scenes, and my theory after that is that it is actually the Wild Hunt.
This is proof that the Wild Hunt isn't from an alternate universe - it's actually from another planet! They're aliens, I tells ya! With flying saucers and everything!

They abducted Geralt, probed him, and left him without his memory! Totally explains the amnesia and everything!
did he get an anal-probe then? :D

aliens who look like elves and don't use advanced weaponry like guns?
I can't believe no one has posted this yet..

Remember Sabrina's curse and prophecy...? It included a comet and it's a brilliant addition to an already atmospheric game :)
It's a comet lol .. Symbolism of big changes/destiny etc

but comet in the uk is a symbol of shitty electrical goods and bad customer support ;)
Maybe it's more time travel intrigue, like in the first game. Maybe it's a plane with John Locke and Ben on it. :P

that doesn't make any sense. the red comet is related to something else entirely.

You're most definitely right! It all makes sense now. How come I didn't think of it? Damn.
It's a comet. In the Kaedweni camp (ChapII, Roche's Path), there are two soldiers talking about how they hate the place and one of them mentions the comet, among other things.

In many cultures, comets have been considered harbingers of war and disaster.
Maybe is the king of the wildhunt taking a break!

Or maybe a meteorite ready for crash with earth and some alchemist, witcher or merchant is waiting for pick up a stone for a sword
