K_Murx: Hm. Everything seems great, except...

bengeddes: 2. Parrying is now unlimited (even when Vigor is completely depleted), though parries no longer cancel all damage (maximum 50% reduction once the relevant ability has been acquired).

K_Murx: So, 2) requires even more rolling and dodging. Just what the combat needed.
Btw, I hope this has been playtested for the "Possessed by ghosts" section in the mist where you can't dodge and only parry.
********EDIT*************

I realize I read that part wrong, my bad K_Murx. I can't believe they decided that that would be a good idea. Parry was fine as it was. Alot of this stuff is fine as it was. The only real problems were that the controls were not responsive and the targeting system was inconsistent. So now we get responsive controls, but we also get a bunch of other stuff that just doesn't feel right. I will wait until the patch comes out and I try it for myself before I say more, but this is turning out to be a not-so-great patch.

4. Geralt‟s attacks are no longer interrupted by attacking opponents. Attacks are now contiguous and foes cannot interrupt Geralt‟s attacks by landing a blow.
5. Assorted fixes now prevent opponents from incessantly attacking Geralt after he has been knocked down. Geralt can no longer be knocked down repeatedly in quick succession. Also, he rises quickly while evading subsequent attacks.

4/5) Is just unrealistic/weird. Why is Geralt suddenly virtually impervious to physical harm, except that his health bar decreases? And what necessitated this change?
I had the same exact thoughts. I always thought it was weird how just holding up your sword and blocking used up more energy than doing a massive dodge out of the way and getting back up ready to fight. I always preferred blocking if I could, though.

And at first I was annoyed by the times I'd get surrounded and then raped by like 10 nekkers, but later on realized it was my own fault for charging straight into a group of nekkers and thinking I was some superman who could defeat any number of enemies at once. But the thing is you're not, you're a witcher who is a skilled fighter because you're smart and prepare for fights as best as you can, whether than means bringing in a bunch of bombs or using quen if the situation calls for it. Hopefully 4/5 gets turned off in higher difficulties

gregski: The change was necessitated by the "OMG they are beating me to death" whining.
Clearly there are 2 ways a player can deal with getting facerolled.

1: Keep trying, develop new tactics and get better, and eventually you can get through the game without getting pwned

2: Cry until the developer gets tired of swimming in your tears and nerfs the game until your grandma's dog can play it on extreme mode.

Guess which way I prefer....

I was really excited for this patch, I thought they were going to make it more challenging. But as I read through these changes, it's clear to me that once again they've succumbed and yielded to the noob whiners. Makes me really sad.

CDP need to take a leaf out of From Software's book. Everyone whined about how difficult Demon's Souls was so guess what - they made Dark Souls even harder!! Sure didn't hurt their sales.

Meh, I'm gonna pass on my planned TW2 replay with this 'carebare' patch and prepare to get my ass handed to me next week by Dark Souls.

So where's Version 2.0? Its already the 29th, on my side of the planet. :P
Same, waiting waiting waiting :D

No one knows eta?
Most likely when the business day starts in Poland.
I just want to express my respect to this great company. Giving away free DLC, providing us with a DRM free version of the game and making kickass games. Respect for this company and I'll be sure to gift this game to a couple of my friends as well!
