Hi,

Everywhere I've read about this game and Windows 7, it ended with something like "sorry but no way to make this work in Windows 7". So, before buying it I'd like to be sure that it really works on Windows 7: did you guys under Se7en (64 bits version) actually got it working without problems nor dirty hacks?

Thanks!
It's working beautifully for me. After I downloaded DirectX:

I don't know if you'd need to or not. But besides that, no problems at all.
Great, thanks :)
(if it doesn't work I'll know who to blame ^^ )
Don't know for the gog version (can only download huge amounts during weekends), but the steam version worked smoothly for me without doing anything special.

and yes, win7 x64 here.
I installed the GOG version yesterday on a Windows 7 64 bit computer and it is working beautifully. I did not need to update my directx manually but keep nondeplumage's link in mind in case you need to.

Hope this helps.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Just finished downloading it, will test it as soon as I find the time :)
Working fine here. haven't had any issues at all with this game.

I would recommend installing latest DX runtime to every Windows 7 user really; you are bound to have issues with multiple games if you are only using vanilla pre-installed DX, mostly because Dx9 and Dx10 support is not complete on out-of-the-box Win 7.

Yeah, but since pretty much every other game already forces all the latest DirectX updates upon installation, there's a fair chance that my DX is already up-to-date. But I'll think about that if I have issues :)

Not necessarily true. Newer games probably use direct x 10 or 11 thus their updates may not help you play an older game such as The Witcher. You may still have to do the seperate download off microsoft to get the update or whatever for Dirext X 9. The game works fine for me on Windows 7 BTW. =)
Well, I just tried it (without the DX update)... and it works great! :)
Yes, it's perfectly fine for Win 7x64. The Witcher website's forum (down for maintenance, back on Sunday) has some tech workarounds for disc-based games that balk at setup--it's basically just a matter of using the "Run as Administrator" feature when installing. I doubt that will be a problem with the GoG version.
I'm running a disc version of the Enhanced Edition on Windows 7x64 with no problems. I was logged in as administrator for the install though so maybe that was necessary, I don't know.
I can also confirm, with all the others, that the GoG version runs in Win7 x64. Nice to replay it after all these years with everything maxed out because of having a modern system.
I too confirm it works fine on Windows 7, 64 bit (professional). No technical problems.
