Yup, working on my Win7 x64 with all gfx settings at max.
Works the same as the poster above me.
Note that it doesn't work out of the box for everyone. Obviously, Windows 7 x64 itself is clearly not the problem, but see http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher/appcrash_in_witcher_exe for a sobering example of what a non-starter this game can be.

Edit: that topic now includes a fix that seems so trivial, it's hard to imagine someone spending hours on the issue.

I can't get the game to run properly on a Win7 (x64) machine as I get the minimum requirements not met bug despite runing an i7 processor with a ATI HD 5870 GFX card.

With the –dontForceMinReqs I can get the game to load but the graphic settings are gimped and I'm restricted to a max resolution of 1440x900.

Pretty pathetic really for a game that listed on the Gog website with full Windows 7 support.

... Yes. Pathetic that GoG/CD Projekt do not have access to every single possible hardware/software/driver combination in their mansion studios. I mean.. how hard could it be to make a game work on every single possible combination right?

/end_sarcasm_routine

Windows 7 support means that it works on most Windows 7 machines without problem - there are always hardware/software/driver combinations that could cause issues though. It is nigh on impossible for CD Projekt to foresee issues with every possible combination. Every game company has the same issue... and every game company has to deal with end users whose sense of entitlement blinds them to the idea that it isn't as simple as they think.
This is a very well selling card and from looking at other forums this is pretty widespread problem going back several years.

I'll cut GOG alot of slack where they are trying to make obscure games that have been abandonned by their creators run on OSes that were never imagined when they were written, but when it's CD Projekt own code from less than three years ago, I'm very far from impressed.

Been running it on two machines Steam version (old 2009 AMD64 XP) and a new i7 Win7(x64) homebuilt without a glitch. Just updated my old radeon 4870 to a Nvidia GTX 570 and it runs great!! (now the cutscene videos look good without mpeg like atifacts)

I suggest you dump your computer and buy a good one to run this $5.00 game :p

I run it on a Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with medium details... it runs fine, usually between 30 and 60 FPS. No need for a killer graphics card, it's 4 year old after all ^^

I have a similar card (the 5850) but with a Phenom II 3.2GHz. Everyhing is on max and it's at a great framerate and loads very quickly. I don't really think the hardware would impact it anyway, unless it was a very obscure item, it's more than likely to be DirectX, drivers or some other system settings you have on (maybe something to do with the ATI CCC).
works for me.. didnt crashed a single time
ati hd 4850 here
I have followed Microsoft’s journey with Windows quite closely, and where they have tried to go with it.

One of the things Microsoft has been working hard on is its implementation of DirectX, especially under Visa and Windows7, the platform was designed to stop hardware manufacturers from implementing proprietary ideas in an attempt to keep compatibility issues to a minimum.
Gone are the days that a game has to think about a piece of hardware, it only has to run on DirectX, in return DirectX translates code to the hardware, the hardware manufacturer, in this case ATI only ever has to get the card to work with one piece of software…DirectX

So to be honest the fault won't lay with either CDProjekt, Microsoft or GOG but rather with ATI who would have not built a compatible graphics card.
So I think you are putting the blame in the wrong place.

Just my 10 Cents worth :)

Oh by the way, I am running Windws7 64bit and have no problem here.

It won't be the graphics card, he has essentially the same one as me and it works fine for me. Logically, it can only be some other software in his PC interfering with it since all the other variables are covered by others for whom the game works fine.
The Steam version works fine for me on Windows 7 x64. I haven't tried the Gog version yet.
The Support section on the official site mentions some standard steps in troubleshooting. Nothing you don't already know, probably, but you may as well go through them.
