long before the quest was avalable on gog or steam, i purchased the old pc versions of the quest and legacy from redshift.hu (in august 2010). before i repurchase the quest on gog: does the quest also contain the first expansion which was available for the quest prior to islands of ice and fire expansion back in 2010? the filename of that expansion is: TheQuestMissPack.pdb or filename of its installer is: TheQuestExpansion in my download folder from original the quest purchase in 2010.

will legacy and legacy 2 also be available on gog along with all their expansions?

and last important question: will work with gog version which are available in steam workshop? is it possible to download mods there, if the quest is not in steam library?

"TheQuestMissPack" is "Islands of Ice and Fire". :)

On GOG, "The Quest - Deluxe Edition" contains the expansion. It can also be purchased separately if you buy the standard "The Quest" game.

It's very unlikely we'll ever release "Legacy" on PC. (I'd say never, but never say never. :)

"Legacy 2" was just a working title for "The Quest".

Third party expansions work with the GOG release, see this: linux.redshift.hu/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6284#p17453 (The forum doesn't allow me to post a link but you can copy paste the previous.)

I don't think it's possible to download Workshop items if you don't own the game on Steam, however. As mentioned in the linked post, I can recommend contacting Zarista about acquiring their expansions directly from them.

i misread my purchased items from 2010, there was no legacy 2, only legacy legends 2, another expansion for legacy... :D

what about that new expansion "The Quest - Hero of Lukmorye" from news on your website? any chance to get it on gog too?

and how could i contact zarista in order to get hands on their expansions?

another question: what about offering gog connect? this way i could buy the quest on steam and have it on gog at the same time due to gog connect and this way i could have access to steam workshop to download mods which i could then use along with drm free gog version! this would solve this problem regarding non existing mods here on gog.

Hero of Lukomorye is by Zarista.

Zarista Games can be found at Zarista Games or Catacomber.

I have no idea how GOG connect works. I'll ask about it from GOG. That said, Workshop expansions are not really our focus. We created and sell The Quest and Islands of Ice and Fire. The interest in other expansions is much smaller. And we really have to focus on working on our new game. ;)

Never say never indeed.

http://redshift.hu/legacypc.htm

The only problem it has, is that it's a very small resolution, and as screens got bigger, it only got worse.
However, if you stream from one PC to another using Steam (by adding non-Steam games), it will use some black magic and make the game full screen, so there must be a way to make it work full screen without the streaming bit or using the Steam client.

Of course, it would be unreasonable to ask for you guys to work on such an old game, but if, say, your curiosity was piqued & you felt like fiddling around with it "just to see", well... ;)

Haha, yes.

The old game is available still, yes. What I meant is updating it like The Quest. :)

I don't plan on making our expansions available on GOG as there is no workshop. The workshop on Steam works very well for me. I upload the expansions and when I do an update, it gets uploaded and everyone can access it right away.

That is a very efficient system. I'm just one person. To manage all our files and sales and updates in the cloud outside a company's workshop is too burdensome for me.

To reiterate what Elendil said:

The GOG version of the game can accept any PC expansion. The game will look for the following folder: "Documents/The Quest/expansions" (on both Windows and Mac). Any expansion paks put there will be picked up and will be playable.

You can buy the Steam versions and put them there (Steam Workshop expansions are called "world.pak" but can be renamed to whatever is convenient).

Please don't contact us at Zarista Games website. It's old and no longer maintained as my partner Dr. Vlad has a family and many responsibilities.

You can contact me or get help for our expansions at https:\\www.catacomber.com.

but you can only buy your mods on steam if you own the steam version of the game. in this case gog connect would be good, as i mentioned, for not having to buy the game twice for both platforms...

I've been trying to get more info about GOG Connect but have not been very successful. From googling, it seems it comes around at certain times of the year that you can add a game to it.

I think that Redshift would have to get The Quest on GOG Connect before we, Zarista, could do anything with our expansions there as mods. I could be wrong but that's what I gather from googling.

You guys know more about GOG than I do though. Let me know if I'm wrong about any of the above.

I see you would have to purchase The Quest on Steam to see the expansions available. Maybe a partial solution to that problem would be for Redshift to lower the price for a little while to give GOG users a chance.

I'm sorry this is so complicated.

I'm going to make our Mithril Horde I expansion available on Steam for free. Have to test it first. It will be level 22 so you can pick up from Ice and Fire. Normally our expansions cost the unbelievably overwhelming amount of 2.99 each.

That will help toward your buying the Quest there if you want to try Mithril Horde I.

that's where "gog connect" would come in play: if redshift would take part in gog connect, then i would be able to buy the game on steam, and get the same game here on gog for free, as it was bought on steam already and my profiles on gog on steam are linked together. so there would no be buying twice AND as a bonus i could use your expansions here on gog, because i initially bought that game on steam which enables me to use steam workshop items.

so for now i'll have to wait until gog connect is available before spending any money. because i don't want to buy a game, knowing that i'm cut off all third party content. and i will NOT buy anything on steam alone, i prefer gog.
currently it's too late anyway, because the sale for quest is over anyway and i'll have to wait for next sale. i won't buy for full price for deluxe edition anymore, because i already spent ~40€ for old versions of quest and legacy with their addons, back in 2010... and i actually never played them, because ultra small resolution and fixed small window size of these old versions make said versions of the quest and legacy unplayable on 1920x1080 resolution...

btw, since october, since that ugly unusable cluttered ram-eating ads-infested fisherprice BLOATWARE "ui" for mobile phone kiddies valve bastards forced on us, i'm boycotting steam anyway. there must be a very good reason to give these bastards from valve any money again. for example getting steam-exclusive third-party expansions for my gog version of the quest.

If Redshift doesn't use GOG Connect, I don't see how I can put our expansions up there.

It would be so hard for me to sell our expansions for GOG because of all the currencies, taxes, vats and other things involved.

People all over the world have enjoyed them and it makes me very sad that all I can do is have them on Steam. I humanly cannot handle the sales as one person without a store that can handle it. Steam does that very well, as does Apple and the Google Play Store..

I know you have issues with Steam. I'm sorry I can't do more.

honx. I have a thought. Can you register at my website, catacomber.com and message me there? I could put the expansion for Mithril Horde I there available for downloading by messaging me maybe since Mithril Horde I will be available on Steam for free.

Or something like that. As long as I don't have to keep track of currencies and taxes and all that other stuff.

that's why i'm hoping that redshift will use gog connect at some point in the future. because THEN you don't need to sell anything outside of steam. because with gog connect i could purchase the game on steam (which gives me access to steam workshop) and have it on gog at the same time through gog connect. then i could buy your expansions in steam workshop and use them with my gog version.

next week or so i'll register at your website, but currently i'm not able to use any of your expansions anyway because i don't own the new version of quest sold on steam and gog. currently i only own the very old version of the quest from 2010 which is not compatible (and barely playable due to limited fixed low resolution in window, very small on 1920x1080 desktop resolution).

as i said, i'm waiting for gog connect AND the next cheap sale (because i already payed ~40€ for the quest and legacy once).

I sent you a pm or chat. Not that familiar with GOG so hope you got it. : )

.pak files.... I wonder, perhaps itch or something like that?
I read Elendil's post on the Redshift forums and saw this bit:

"The GOG version of the game can accept any PC expansion. The game will look for the following folder: "Documents/The Quest/expansions" (on both Windows and Mac). Any expansion paks put there will be picked up and will be playable.

So, having put in many hours on The Quest from GOG, I buckled to my inner monkey and bought Thor's Hammer on Steam.

However, although it's now in my Steam inventory, I see no way of getting this in my grubby hands so I can put it in a folder where the base game will find it. Am I missing something obvious? ....or did I just waste money on an xpac I can't add?
