Then new game looks all right. Too bad that it's in episodic form, because I would love to play the whole thing at once, but it's very likely that I'm too impatient to wait till all of the episodes have been released and I will end up waiting between the episodes.

All in all, I'm excited that one of my favorite adventure game series finally continues, especially considering that Dreamfall ended with a huge cliffhanger.

Philosopher Phillip J. Fry has expressed my current thoughts in a most appropriate way:

"Shut up and take my money"

I want to pre-order this game already. ;)

Another thought came to my mind, but I forgot to mention it last night. I'm bit worried about the lack of April in the trailer. I still hope that we will see her in the game (because she's my favourite character from the series), but it seems that they wanted to make this game all about Zoë and Kian (who's role was really small in Dreamfall).

a lot of information about DFC there. and no, April is none of the main characters :(
I kinda get that as April could eventually take the form of a legend or heroine from the past. It will be interesting to see how the influence and history of her character is dealt with during the course of the new game.

I'm excited about this newcomer to the series. Even after all these years the continued impact of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall cannot be denied - such fantastic storytelling and amazing, exciting worlds.

I am dancing in my chair..........
hey,

does anyone know when the game is coming to gog?
It's already on presale on Steam, but I'd rather have it DRM free of course.

I would assume that around the same time when it comes available for purchase on Steam. GOG announced that it would be "coming soon" a month ago.
I don't know. In Steam it's set to be released at the 21th of October. That's already in two weeks. Wouldn't gog have announced the date by now, if they were planing to release it at the same time?

They have had that presale page (link in the first post of this thread) as long as Steam has had theirs. Only difference is that Steam has updated the lauch date on their page, You still can't pre-order the game from Steam either. I'm certain that GOG will update the date when the game comes to pre-order phase.

I hope you are right. We'll see in 14 days.

GOG, Humble and Steam will release at the same time according to official Red Thread Games PR (in this case: facebook).

To be precise, they intend to release 6PM CET sharp.

As backers will have the choice between either Steam key or GOG key, there is no doubt whatsoever that both platforms will release on the same day...

Keep your internet connections tidy as it will reportedly be a big download (ca. 5 GB for Book/episode 1). ;)

There is possibly not a "pre-order phase".

Valve has told RTG that indies would be better served not to do pre-orders, so RTG possibly won't. This supposedly skyrockets the game up in Steam's hitlist ranking on release day and showers the developers with millions or somesuch nonsense, don't ask me about it. ;)

Whispers_of_Winter: April is none of the main characters :(
That is correct, she won't be playable. But keep in mind that the Kickstarter advertises the April Ryan cliffhanger explicitly; and keep in mind that April's voice actor, Sarah Hamilton, is a (in fact, the only) confirmed voice actor for Chapters. RTG has teased that Sarah will not necessarily voice April though.

We will hear about April, that much is certain. But how much, and what exactly, that's not clear. Chapters has three playable main characters - Zoë Castillo, Kian Alvane and an unrevealed third character (not April) that will already be in Book 1. Their fates will be in the center of the new game.

But I'm hoping for quite a bit of April as well... ;)

Does anyone know if the first tier, will get the soundtrack if we redeem on gog? I noticed the season pass is on sale today, and it's certainly cheaper than the special digital edition, which was the lowest tier to include the digital soundtrack if you backed the game.

I really wanted the soundtrack, but not for another $25.

EDIT:

They sent out an email to all backers, and it states that the soundtrack include will just be the soundtrack for book 1. The entire soundtrack is still exclusive to full backers. Today is the last day to pledge any money.

I'm one of the (few?) people that have a crazy hope that Ragnar has been "playing" with us all this time and that the 3rd playable character will actually turn out to be April in the end! There are some "clues" supporting my position, but it's still best to be prepared for a non-playable April* and get pleasantly surprised, than the opposite (expect her to be and get disappointed) I guess.

*playable or not, though, we're definitely going to deal with April, what happened to her after the end of Dreamfall, etc. I'm sure of that.

If you pledged at least $20 (kickstarter early bird) or $25 on either kickstarter or paypal then you'll receive the Sound track for Book one, same as if you'd purchased the Special Edition directly from GOG. So no need to pay any extra you''re already getting all the same perks.

I quote from the latest backer update (number 59) :..............

'Wait, Special Edition?

Yes, we've put together a pre-order package containing some cool digital extras, and the best part is that these goodies are heading your way very, very soon! A couple of the extras, such as wallpapers, are already part of pledge tiers. The rest will be made available to all of our $20+ backers. These include:

Reborn: The Art of Dreamfall Chapters Book One — a digital art book featuring concept art and illustrations from the first episode of Dreamfall Chapters. The full art book is still exclusive to $75+ backers and will be distributed with the release of Book Five.
Digital soundtrack featuring music from Dreamfall Chapters Book One. The full soundtrack remains exclusive to $50+ backers and add-ons, and will be released after the end of the first season.
Digital Europolis tourist map! Sponsored by Niyom Media and presented by Crowboy, everyone’s favourite crow cowboy!
5 digital avatars featuring characters from Dreamfall Chapters.
'

EDIT : Apologies, I didn't notice your own edit, looks like you already found the answer to your question
