So basically the developer/s threw a "progressive" hissy fit over a tweet featuring the postal 2 gamergate reference, and then decided to virtue signal by pulling their game and films from GOG to punish the platform and everyone who uses it.

I really dislike all this PC crap as well. People are WAY too sensitive these days, seemingly taking every little thing they don't agree with / that doesn't line up with their beliefs or identity personal. Sometimes an insensitive joke is just that. A joke. Comedians do it all the time.

But... CD Projekt should also know better than to just blindly trust their social media managers. Especially after that first "incident". After The Witcher 2 and 3 they became one of the big boys and that does mean taking a certain amount of responsibility and consideration when it comes to how you present yourself to your audiences and business partners.

So... I guess he is the reasons personified why almost stopped gaming as a whole if not for Gog. ;)

So, only one question, "When The Long Dark will return to GOG store?" I want it so much!

I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't expect it to ever be available here again.

As I'm more optimistic - will wait for chance that game appears at GOG again.

Either way, I have serious doubts about Hinterland changing their mind. With their recent decision to demand TLD be removed from GeForce Now, it seems to me that the owner of Hinterland has decided that his stance on a DRM free game may be changing.
Plus his apparent belief on political correctness, which is most likely the reason the game was pulled from GoG to begin with.

I could be wrong though.

That's not on GOG, but on developers. It's THEIR consideration of GOG that brought this (and some mistake of some unaware goofball on their social media).
Wow, some people DO catch on fire easily... I don't know if I'm wired wrong or not (I do all my best to be as respectful of people as anyone else), but on two of those cases I actually caught the humour and did not see any offense...

a shining example of "morals" over ethics. and who determines what a true "moral" is? the left! a veiwpoint I and othes do not share! what about the ones who PURCHASED the game! I hope these "hinterland" people HONOR thier duty to give us ALL the story content, not just part 3 and then incognito! Customer First polliticss and religoin last!
