Looks like they couldn't even get together enough money to fund the demo. All things considered, it's probably for the best.

Jonesy89: If I could get a look at a gameplay trailer that shows that Landeros' design philosophy isn't horribly outdated or as ill-informed as it was with the 11th Hour, then I might start considering contributing. As it stands, Landeros has made a few comments on that page that lead me to believe that he is incredibly out of touch with what gamers are interested in. When he expressed shock that so many people don't know what "cryptic clues" are, I had to resist the urge to give a nominal donation purely for the purpose of pointing out how out of touch he was as nastily as possible.

Furthermore, the comments Rob have made about adult content in games is all very good and well, until you remember that his idea of good use of adult content in gaming was the exploitative garbage that polluted the 11th Hour and Tender Loving Care. Every time the man has tried to take on adult subject matter, he has done it with all the finesse of a Z-grade Syfy channel movie, and his comments indicate that he wants to try his hands at doing so again. Barring some kind of evidence that he has a strict editor on standby, I can't say I'm eager to see what he has in mind for this game.
I don't really care what Rob said as long as there were another 7th guest game. I loved the first two, and a bit sad this is dead in the water.

The problem is that the things he was saying indicated that had it gotten produced, it would have been shit. That's not even going in to the nonsense he pulled by calling out a critical poster for only donating a single dollar. The apparent issues with the game were bad enough, but that kind of attitude toward much needed feedback was the last nail in the coffin for me. I dig the 7th Guest, and the 11th Hour had its moments, but if Rob were to put out the game his posts indicated he wanted to make without learning from either the failures of the past or comments from contributors, then getting a third game would have only hurt.

Meh a lot of dev's are probably assholes. Though IF a game is good, I don't care if he's a complete dick.

I'd also like to see another phantasmagoria game also.

The problem is, as I edited in earlier, that I don't think it would have been good. His posts indicated he was going to repeat the worst parts of the prior games, especially the way the 11th Hour handled 'mature" content, and he showed no signs of willing to accept suggestions that that would be a bad idea. Dedication to a bad idea combined with refusal to listen to criticism is a recipe for a bad outcome.

I don't care about adult content myself, as long as the game itself is enjoyable.

The game's failed pretensions at maturity was just one problem. The fact that he seemed hell bent on including more non-puzzle challenges a la the 11th Hour, despite those being the worst parts of the game, was a giant red flag on the gameplay front.

non puzzle challenges? Sorry haven't been through 11th hour yet. Only had 7th for years and just got 11th hour recently.

Ok, how do I put this... You know how 7th Guest revolves around solving self contained puzzles? 11th Hour had those as well, including more maddening AI games. Those, while frustrating, at least had precedent via the microscope in 7th Guest. The worst part of the game were riddles that the player would be given, and by "riddles", I mean cryptograms, number ciphers, and all sorts of whacked out stuff that just wasn't in line with what made the first game fun. I can see and totally understand somebody liking that sort of thing in its own niche, but it didn't belong in the 11th Hour, as it didn't mesh well with what I (and, from what I gather, others) wanted out of the game; as a result, we got surprised with a new gameplay addition that at best you lucked out with by either liking it from the get go or warming up to it, and at worst completely lacking the skills and thought processes needed to solve them.

It was the equivalent of buying a car and having the car fall apart until it's revealed you are actually riding a unicycle; it might be a perfectly good one for people who know how to ride them, but (1) I'm not one of them, and (2) I bought the car expecting it be a car that I knew how to bloody drive.
One thing annoyed me about The 11th Hour is that unlike the 7th Guest the puzzles were just there as filler in most cases I mean I liked both games don't get me wrong but the 7th Guest puzzles made more sense in the context of the game like the Cake Puzzle it wasn't just a puzzle in the sense of hey there's a room here let's add a puzzle to add one. Those are just my two cents anyway.
Also the finding the elusive items was rather pointless.
